Fete Gelee - Losing its Luster?

Thousands of people found their way to Gelée beach in the southern town of Aux Cayes for the city’s annual patron saint festival, commonly known as Fête Gelée. This year however, despite no shortage of visitors, Fête Gelée appeared to have completely lost its luster.

On Saturday, August 15, 2009, a Brooklyn audience packed Sucre Coffee Jazz Lounge in Bedford Stuyvesant and were treated to a theatrical re-enactment of Bwa Kayiman, the most pivotal event in Haitian history.
