The film follows a group of young immigrants who take an ancient music from the hills of Haiti and reinvent it on the `streets of Brooklyn. The journey of this unlikely band offers a unique insight into the Haitian-American experience—a rare glimpse into a world of roots music, traditional spirituality, and cultural activism.
The final toll taken by Tropical Storm Hanna on Haiti is heavy. 500 bodies have been counted while material damages remain incalculable. Many of the country’s regions, especially Gonaives, and some communes in the Southern Department are still inaccessible. Hanna has worsened the catastrophic situation left by storms Fay and Gustav which hit the country during the month of August.
