Barikad Crew Funerals Make History

On Saturday June 21st, 2008, tens of thousands of people participated in the funerals of the 6 members of the rap group Barikad Crew. Wearing white or red T-shirts, and red bandanas, the crowds which were composed of artists, politicians, and young fans, gathered early on Champs de Mars where the six coffins were visible. The ceremony was also broadcast live on television and radio.

Street Art Adorn Port-au-Prince walls to pay tribute to Barikad Crew

A series of giant graffiti-style murals painted on the walls of Port-au-Prince artist’s neighborhood as their final farewell to the members of the Barikad Crew who lost their lives in a car accident on Sunday, July 15th, 2008.
