This is much easier to add pictures now. I couldn't access the other site from work.
Great work P.

I know some people were wondering if they were really doing anything at the airport. It's not much, but it's an improvement. The interior is way better than I left it back in 2001.

Changing the picture size is a little time consuming. However if you do have to change sizes, I noticed changing the size to "466x349" in Microsoft Office Picture Manager does the trick to reduce it to the size allowed (75KB).

Wow, it's come quite a long way since I was in Haiti for Kanaval. I like the improvement, but I'm really going to miss that heat when the plane doors open up (and you catch the trpical smell of Haiti), then going down the steps onto the tarmac. That's the point where I really feel like I'm in Haiti. Then you have those Twoubadou guys playing music as you enter the terminal. Lakay se lakay.

Stepping into an air-conditioned gangway and walking directly into the terminal won't be quite the same. (sigh.)... (except when it's raining!) wink

CoolP, will you eventually make the forum in a such way that you can post bigger pictures? The eyes aren't so good anymore. Haven't been for a while. Born with bad deteriorating vision.

I don't know if i will miss the old airport though. whenever i travel, it's either lightly raining, too much wind, or too much soley.

HQ, allowing a lot of huge pictures on the server is expensive and takes up space. If you want to post a big picture, put it on a free photo hosting service like Photobucket or Flikr, and use the
<img>
button at the top of the edit window. That will allow you to put up big pictures like this (at no extra cost to yourself, or HX!):

That picture was put up with code that looks like this:

It's very easy to do. Try it.

Thanks for the pics Vision. Walking on the tarmac in the dry heat in the glaring sun to go through customs really gave one the sense of being in a "tropical" environment. Though it was a unique and an appreciable experience...it's refreshing to know that at least the major entrance point to the country is being suited to meet optimal traveler convenience. A little step but an important one nonetheless.

We had this conversation on the old HaitiXchange. Prayer is a good thing, but we have to get off our butts and do our share too.

Haitians always like to "Lage'l Nan Men Jezi" (Let Jesus handle it), but God helps those who help themselves.

G, it pays dividend to be guided by someone that resides in Haiti, especially if you're staying in PAP. They'll for the most part know where to go and where to avoid. I stayed "en province" and loved it.
My cousin left Haiti at 5 and returned after 20 years had a blast. She was worried about what she was hearing, first thing she told me was, these people are seriously portraying Haiti worst than it actually is(without minimizing the reality). Now guess what, her mom' going in July, she already has a couple of luggages full with stuff that she'll be donating, yes she's going again. I'm pissed, I can't go.

My People, don't let anyone discourage you from going to Haiti. Yes Haiti is not up to standards, but it is a very beautiful country.
Besides, if you and I don't go, who's gonna go for us. when you go, buy a paint, or a local art. I brought one back for a coworker, she paid more to frame it than I paid for it.

Go and have a blast...
