Please share herbal (home) remedies, medicinal plants that a parent or a grandparent used on you (or that you just know) and what they were for.

A little bit I know:

Guava leaves: Boil it as tea. Good for diarrhea.

Bannann gozbot: Diarrhea, upset stomach

Fey Lang Chat (languichatte): Good for colds

Fey Lougawou: Colds, headache, sinus...also for hypertension

Fey Zanmann: hypertension

Citron: Colds...better if served undiluted with some salt

The layers or folds over garlic: Boil them in water, put a little bit of salt, good for fever, relieving gas.

Ginger: Good for nausea, vomiting, colds, asthma

Cinnamon: Nausea, vomiting

Beets: weakness, for blood

Fey asosi (or asorosi): fever, colds...or just general health

Boil girofle (cloves): stomach pain

Senna: To expel stomach worms, relieve constipation, laxative

yeah, cut it open put it in water and drink...if your really brave, take it straight from the plant to your mouth,....it's a not so great out of body experience.
there are health food stores even walmart has aloe water mix and drink, it does clear out your skin
cat nip=lang chat is also used on the ozark mt in the usa for colicky babies.

Baking Soda and water--stomach ache, gas

Baking soda, lime (or lemon) juice--for a burn (you place the baking soda on the affected area and then squirt the lime)

Baking soda--infected and inflamed cut/wound, place on affected area

red onion and sugar (you have to let it sit for a couple days to produce a liquid--its nasty, but effective)--throat ache, coughing, sore throat

a spoonful of molasses--a headache brought on by a tantrum, frustration or anger

spoonful of honey and lime/lemon juice--for a sore throat, flu/cold

l'huile palma christi/mascreti (castor oil) and sore orange--for a sprain, or sore muscle (rub the area with the mixture then wrap it with an ace bandage)

extremely salty corn meal--for a sprain (wrap the hot salty corn meal in an ace bandage and place it on your sprain ankle or what have you)

castor oil/l'huile palma christi/mascreti--for hair thickening and hair growth (blend in some watercress and your hair will definitely grow; when you add the watercress use it as a pre-shampoo treatment)

My mother uses aloe for compresses (headaches or fever). Peels it and put in a warm towel over your head. she has several aloe plants in Haiti.
Also uses raw aloe for burns. Also put toothpaste over minor burns.
