What do you do when?

- Everything you thought was so easy to do is turning out to be difficult.
- Some things are taking a lot longer to go through than expected.
- You start to question if your goals were realistic or attainable.
- You feel that sooner or later you will lose a great opportunity, your first and most important step.
- Faith keep you sane but you can't chase the doubts.

Ray of light

- As doors close, other ones are opening.
- You realize there's a lot to learn and you get
the help you need from the most unexpected sources.
- You learn when to accelerate and when to slow down, reassess the situation and pursue the true objective.
- You improve daily through experience and find confidence again.

Constant battle between the feelings of hope and defeat. Sources of strength are:

God (Faith)
Family (Purpose)
Country (Duty)

(Just thinking out loud! feel free to join in!)

I always remember that life is a journey that is closer to a marathon than a sprint. I did not always have this perspective. Life taught it to me. In a marathon you cannot even see the finish line like you do in a quick sprint. The goal is far and there's the thought in your head, "will I make it." That's when it's time to banish that thought and remember all the time you spent preparing for the moment you'd cross that finish line. What that moment will feel like. Remember that you didn't deprive yourself of that Saturday night party or that trip to Montreal with the fam so that you wouldn't see the finish line. There are going to be some steep hills along the way but that just makes it easier on level ground. The main thing I want to pass along is never question your goals in life. Doing that is questioning who you really are.

What do you do when?
- Everything you thought was so easy to do is turning out to be difficult.

Analyze the situation and focus on the most difficult part first to reverse the process rather than be stressed at marching toward it.

Panoramix - 16 September 2009 04:02 PM

- Some things are taking a lot longer to go through than expected.

Think why Time is handing you a longer process and cherish it.....use it to shorten another endeavor in the future.

Panoramix - 16 September 2009 04:02 PM

- You start to question if your goals were realistic or attainable.

Tell oneself, doubt is necessary to determine will.....for without the will all goals never pass the stage of imagination.

Panoramix - 16 September 2009 04:02 PM

- You feel that sooner or later you will lose a great opportunity, your first and most important step.

Tell oneself, Time Heals and repeats itself....lessen the burden of short term goals and opportunities by seeing ahead. Putting all hope in one step is a move for a complete meltdown, There are no first steps without a second or third.......

Panoramix - 16 September 2009 04:02 PM

- Faith keep you sane but you can't chase the doubts.

Faith and doubt go hand in hand.....there are no separation.

Since you seem to be somewhat spiritual (since you mention God) I will mix my answer with some spiritual thoughts. A friend of mine gave me this little Spanish book, it is very small, if you speak/read Spanish, I would recommend you to buy it. The title is Supera tus miedos. This book has nothing to do with religion.
.

May I also suggest that you to read the book of Ecclesiastes. There is nothing divine in this book, it has some wise reflection that anyone can relate to, regardless of his religious belief. This book is simply about things that happen in the everyday life of a simple mortal. If you are worried about how the obstacles of today may impact your life, I think that the following quote from Ecclesiastes might make some sense about the order of things:

"I have observed something under the Sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time" 9:10-11.

As far as the second part of your question, I think that Portauprincesse, Fan and Benz gave you the right answer. Now, as a cynical bastardette, let me tell you that the world is not going to kiss your axx whether God is on your side or you are not a believer. But no matter what, if you have the potential to turn the worst into the best, to learn from the bad experiences, you can work toward your dream again at some point in life. If you succeed, it's your success, if you fail, well, stand up, learn from it and move on with your life.

What do you do when - Everything you thought was so easy to do is turning out to be difficult.

God didn’t promise that the days will pass without pain but he promised to never forsake you. “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” We can substitute money in the verse above by whatever things that keep you worry. Deut. 31:6

- Some things are taking a lot longer to go through than expected.

Then good!! The longer they take, the more you will cherish the result. Do you remember how many time Thomas Edison repeated his work before he finally came up with a workable Incandescent light bulb?

Depending on where you are now, you might not be able to start over and get things done the way that you wanted but you can start today and end things differently.

Panoramix - 16 September 2009 04:02 PM
- You start to question if your goals were realistic or attainable.

It happens to all of us and we question our level of sanity. It means that if your goals were not realistic, then you have become realistic because you have the guts to question your desire and your wishes. It is ok to make big plans, as long as you are aware that things might not turn away the way that you wanted.

We Sometimes don’t go from point A to point B when we are pursuing a goal. We might have to take a different road than we were expected , we might have to do things differently, but no matter how we do it , it will ultimately leads us to our goal. Meanwhile, things might seem obscure and different from what we wished for, simply because we are not following the path that we traced for ourselves.

Panoramix - 16 September 2009 04:02 PM
- You feel that sooner or later you will lose a great opportunity, your first and most important step.

Sometimes, not getting something that we wished for is a blessing.

If I may had a little bit of spirituality in it: My mom told me once that we sometimes want to do things our way. We get disappointed but we forgot that it is not always about us. God also has his plan for us, hence, what you want might not be what God wants for you. So stop being stubborn.

Panoramix - 16 September 2009 04:02 PM
- - Faith keep you sane but you can't chase the doubts.

Do you remember all the turmoil that Job was going through? Do you remember that the world abandoned him and he almost felt that God made a pact with the devil to torture his human soul? But God himself said “ I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."John 16:33

one last prechi precha:

1- pa gen on bagay bondye komanse poul pa fini

2- Family? Sacrifice? It's worth it.Whatever you do to elevate your family, you gain something spiritually even though you have to give up something yourself.Put in mind that be there for your family is an investment. It's a human investment and that itself is something to be proud of no matter what the trade off might be.

3- Country? Nou mele. Nou tout konn ke ti patri a se on tet chaje, don't feel bad about it.
