It might be a good thing if they recruited players directly from Haiti. Those player might send more money back home than Haitian-American players.

Maybe. If the Haitians playing in the US establish programs down there, I don't see why not.

There has to be some football programs down there before they start recruiting players from Haiti.

I've said it before. American football is one sport that the Haitian diaspora (specifically Haitian Americans) is making its mark in. There are more players of Haitian descent in the NFL than all the other pro sports leagues (NBA...NHL...MLB) combined.

Our two biggest stars are Indianapolis Colts WR Pierre Garcon and New Orleans Saints LB Jonathan Vilma. Coincidentally...they both played against each other in last nights Super Bowl.

Football is virtually unknown in Haiti but with time and the growth of the sport's popularity among the Haitian American population I think it will eventually reach the shores of Haiti itself as the youth become more familiar with it and the profitability that can come with it. I think that its quite possible for football programs to eventually spring up in Haiti.

Censorship reflects society’s lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime.

Do you guys see the equipments needed to play the sport?

Rice, low calorie intake.........poverty make american football a NO GO in Haiti.

Good point. I'm sure a lot of us are already playing across the border. But honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see football gain popularity in Haiti as more Haitians play in the NFL. What would really make it explode is if these NFL guys start youth leagues in Haiti.

Ive been in barber shops in Haiti...and honestly most people in Haiti regard this sport as savage...
Ive never met a Haitian "who has never been to the states" have a good thing o say about "Football Americein"...
some who dont know the name of the sport call it jwet sovaj...jwet kraze zoe...and my grandfather used to call it
jwet pike deye.....
Ironicaly football is my favorite sport to play and watch...
one guy explained to me that Haitians like things with elegance...like soccer or basket ball...they dont want to see people crashing into each other and pileing up on top of each other...
the Haitian American players probably grew up in Florida where football is like soccer in Haiti..these player's are far removed from the massive cultural backlash of this sport...
Haitians see American football in a worst light then Black Americans see hockey...also note that almost everywhere the U.S. has been in Latin America...the people start plaing base ball...Haiti has probably been involved with or occupied the most and we still dont play their baseball...as a matter of fact they occupied the D.R. in Haiti for almost the same amount of time.

aside from that...JC is right...you have to eat well to play football...probably more so then other sports...

yeah..,yeah that's what they said about rap. Not all football players are 300 pounds and not all Haitians can't eat.

It's hit or miss. Athlete's are not the answer to Haiti's woes.

Haiti has so many superstars operating in the USA as MD's, and yet, here we sit.

The medical field is where Haiti shines in the USA and not on the football field.

It was a good game for once.
