Haiti’s top schools

The New Victorian School (TNVS) is a non-profit private institution located in Turgeau, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. TNVS has been in existence since 1991. First as The Victorian School (TVS) 1991/1999), and in January 2000, after complete destruction by fire, became The NEW Victorian School that consists of four sections:

• Academic Section
• Early Bird English for Children
• Music Section
• Vocational Section for Youth and Adults

On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, The New Victorian School was completely destroyed by the 7.0 earthquake which hit Port-au-Prince, Haiti. At the time of the earthquake, approximately 4:55 pm, there were no students or staff in the facility. Only six people were in the school building. Four of the six survived; two lost their lives.

Why are you sorry about LTL? I know the schools. I asked you why you think they are the top schools in Haiti because that's what the tittle of your thread implies. Just wondering on what key factors you decide to name a school "top".


I couldn't find any information about LTL and I'm not familiar with the school.

Some of the factors are curriculum, academic performance, enrollment, physical facilities and infrastructure, longevity…

Lycee Alexandre Dumas

The Lycée Alexandre Dumas educates about 700 students from kindergarten and up. About 25% of the students are French nationals, 60% Haitian and 15% of other nationalities.

This diversity gives the school its originality. Does education benefits from the diversity of cultures represented in the institution, which promotes open-mindedness of the students.

The school is governed since 1 September 1998 by an agreement with the AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad). Families who choose it are assured that their children receive a quality education and consistent schedules and French programs. Management and teaching team set as goals:

Union School

The school, founded in 1919, is a private, coeducational day school offering an American style college preparatory education, to students of all nationalities in prekindergarten through grade 12. The School comprises 2 semesters extending from late August to mid-January and from mid-January to mid-June.
