Michelle Bennett, with her three sons and daughter.

duvalier3.jpg
Michelle Bennett (C) with her oldest two sons from her first husband, Alix Pasquet jr... Alix "Sonson" Pasquet Sr., was a Haitian army lieutenant, who in July 1958 attempted to topple the older bestial, ferocious dictator, Francois "Papa Doc" Duvalier. Pasquet and his colleagues were all captured by the bloodthirsty dictator Francois Duvalier's Tonton Macoutes (bogeyman). Their mutilated bodies were all subsequently put on display, not too far from the now destroyed Haiti national palace.

I was laughing so hard because I had just had this debate with this old school fellow glorifying how great Haiti was during the Duvalier regime. Yet, he left because he feared for his life.

My argument was # 1. Once you fear for your life nothing else matters.

# 2. Under Duvalier, Haiti was indeed better off in terms of cleaner streets, and economically. However, there were more investments in Haiti in terms of the sugar industry, tourism, and etc. Ironically they failed to capitalized on it. As a matter of fact they abused it hence staring a trend of businesses packing their stuff and leaving Haiti for good. Instead of arguing for a scumbag like Duvalier simply argue for their timing. That’s exactly what is was great timing when they became president, and still not only they didn’t capitalized on it, they actual screw it up forever.

Man I hate these folks with a passion. At least Aristide tried, despite his flaws. His wife use to shop like shopping was going out of style while the national government had no money for basic need like petroleum. Again, wow, I hate them with a passion.

Listen we all that Duvalier regime was harsh and did alot of bad but it was still better than what we have today. It appears haiti is in such dispair that people wouldn't mind the harsh reality to Duvaliers opponents but at least haitians had dignity and can rely on itself to feed its people.. Duvalier destiny and should be allowed to enter haiti then face trial for their atrocities but also the current government should also meet the same fate. What's the difference..Duvalier are still icons and his Ex-wife will go down in history as a high class woman that used men to get what she wanted and manipulated them. She and her kids should be allowed back to their country.. All haitians do is hate hate hate..but no have the solution to the problem of the issues in haiti.. i think she and duvalier should return to haiti.. have them pay back what they stole by investing in rebuilding in haiti in return they will not go to jail..they are too big of Willy's and high up to rot in jail..They still represent la bourgoeisie haitienne, elegance and upper crust of our society..top of the totem pole...

She is very smart women that's all about her cash using her wit and women assets to get paid. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I wonder what's his relation with his DAd..he looks like a cornball like his dad when he was elected as president as a teenager..

Wow. Duvalier's are long gone. Yes, things were better under them overall. Today, Haitians escape for fear of starvation and disease. Under Duvalier, they escaped for fear of Tonton Macoute.

What you "don't see" is how lavishly today's Haitian leaders are living.

I believe last week somebody posted that their Grandmother was still living under a tarp.

On that exact same day, I was in Boston on business, and I happened to see Dr Paul Farmer, hob-knobbing at the Fairmont Copley Hotel in Boston. One in a tent, the other in the most lavish hotel in Boston and in the world.

What you "don't see" is George Soros' penthouse suite over-looking Central Park in NYC.

The list goes on and on.

Don't be naive. Haiti has leaders. They're just not where you expect them to be.

You remain transfixed on the nickel and dime corruption by "Haitians" while the real boyz are filling their pockets and living large.

They are not. There-in lies part of the problem

"Foreign powers" seldom have the natives best interest at heart.

Only there own. Fairmont Copley vs blue tarp as an example.
