"WHO" is travelling to Haiti?
ONLY one group.
"Aid The Poor".
And they demand 4 & 5 star luxury hotels.
Therefore, "Haiti" will make these hotels a Number 1 priority!
Haitian Nationals be damned!
Gunner is right once again folks! I have been to Haiti numerous times over the past couple of years. I have never stayed in Port-au-Prince but in the area northwest of the city. I have seen with my own eyes the high dollar SUVs that crowd the parking lots of the beach clubs every weekend. I have seen the numerous "Aid The Poor" NGO staffs partying the day and night away while they sip on their cocktails and feast on lavish meals. I have seen this as I have walked by these beach clubs on my way to a tent camp where hundreds and thousands of Haitian nationals live. The people these NGOs tell the world they are helping in Haiti but about who the Haitians ask me; "Why do they drive by us each day in their fancy new vehicles and never once stop and ask how they can help us? Where is the money that was promised to rebuild Haiti? Why is my family still living under a tarp two years after we lost our home in the earthquake?" What do you say to them when you have the same questions yourself. I am nobody special and what little I am able to do for these people in Haiti is not nearly enough but I give them everything I have at the time and leave to come home praying that I had more. I get angry when I think about how much money has been given to so many organizations and how little they spend on the people it was given to help. This will not stop me from raising more money to go back to Haiti to help feed a hungry family or build a home for a family living under a tarp. Let them drive by in their fancy air conditioned SUV and let them have their weekends at the beach clubs. My Haitian friends know who loves and care about them and that is good enough for me. I will never have to hang my head in shame when asked by a Haitian, "What are you doing to help Haiti?" Oh, and should anyone think I am placing myself on a pedestal, it is not me that deserves any praise. All the praise goes to God who has called me to do everything I do for my Haitian brothers and sisters. My only prayer is that I would be able to do more.
