I always thought this portrait was on point.

While at Fort de Joux he was described as:

5 feet two inches.

Very Black

wiry and lean

large, expressive eyes

full lips

a broad, uplifted nose

large teeth

and an equally long, pointed chin.

Your image seems to be close to that mark except for the nose.

Face to face profile, I think the one at Fort de Joux is probably the best and perhaps a little dramatized

There is also an image (side profile) of him done in 1798 by Pint Van Der Benjamin that shows him mounted on his horse and looking the small body size and protruding jaw.

You can view it in the book: The Haitian Journal of Lieutenant Howard, York Hussars, 1796-1798

Interesting but still questionable.

Is 1913 the year of the discovery?

I always thought the portrait of Henry Christophe was real because of Nord Alexis

He's his grand son or great-grandson and we can see some he does look a like.

What about the description of eyewitness? What do they say about his image?

The new portrait is obvious inadequate...The age factor is a good point...

Same dude folks; at different stages of life.

Exciting that they've found another image of HC

A man that was 200 years ahead of his time.

The French slaughtered his "name/reputation" and even decided to change his first name from "Henry" to "Henri".

The French have rectified their mistakes with Toussaint; now they need to do the same with Christophe and Dessalines.

Don't you love the "German" precision of HC?

You want to REALLY know what he looked like?

Look at that German portrait.

Impressive!

I always thought that Christophe was ahead of Pétion and Boyer COMBINED. The guy was a genius he had a glorious future for Haiti. Unfortunately he wasn't able to have the support he needed to unify all Haiti at Pétion's death. He dealed with the British and had a quite good economy up North. I even heard English was even thought to his African Brigarde. the Dahomenian if I'm ot wrong For a reason of another, we tend to demonize Christophe and give all honor to Pétion, which is quite questionable.

You are correct. 100% correct.

Petion was a French mulatto and a supporter of the French in Haiti.

Christophe was against the French and with the British.

Christophe made the English language mandatory in school.

He had science, language, arts, schools for his populace based upon the British Lancaster system of education.

200 years ahead of his time.
