"Haiti’s leaders came under pressure from Clinton, the United Nations’ special envoy to Haiti, who urged them to confirm Lamothe and establish a fully functioning government within the week.

Martelly, a first-time politician, has spent a year in office, but he’s had a prime minister for only four of those months, hobbling his ability to govern. Infighting between Martelly and his critics in the opposition-controlled Parliament, and even in his administration, has become routine. Conille resigned in February because he clashed with the president.

“I believe that the Haitian people deserve better from their leaders,” Clinton said before the vote. He said officials must set aside their differences and self-interests to “restore confidence in the Haitian institutions so that donor funds can flow again and attract new investment.”

Countries around the world and multilateral organizations pledged about $4.5 billion after the earthquake, but only a little more than half of that money has been released, according to the U.N. Office of the Special Envoy to Haiti. The holdup has been largely attributed to a wait-and-see approach from donors.

Even with the confirmation, Clinton may have to wait for movement in the government. It could take days or even a few weeks before Parliament approves Lamothe’s government plan and Cabinet. It’s expected that Lamothe will keep many of the same ministers. "

lol...lol...lol

Yes the Governor General has spoken ...but is waiting for movement.

Haiti is his business.

He has been put in charge of the failed state by the powers.

Haiti cannot self govern, so a white overseer has been appointed.

And it is not OUR money....WE have NO money.

Pathetic; isn't it?

Mr Haiti (at least when it comes to his marketing campaigns for: DONATE NOW) has a lot riding on Haiti.

He's pulling in $320 million plus per year by marketing Haiti as a "DONATE NOW" country.

The country, as I have been stating for years, is not controlled in Haiti, but in Washington DC, and K Street in particular.

This is a GLARING example of what I have been stating.

The entire "Aid The Poor" network is in Clinton's hands.

That is why Obama stays far away from Haiti.

Even the president of the USA, doesn't touch the Democrat Party's, White Elitists, money making machine.

And so it goes....

I think Obama simply has NO interest in Haiti.

But Clinton/Bush/U.S. Embassy certainly do have plenty of interest(s) in Haiti:

Except for the fact he nominated Lamothe for the position and wanted him there. All else yes out of his hands.

I wouldn't bet on that Benz except to say he had run out of candidates and Clinton picked this one.

But Lamothe is a Clinton man 100% and Martelly is just a co-owner in a duplex in Miami.

Lamothe will walk the party (NGO) line 100%; not a misstep will be made.

He'll be the cheerleader for tourism, agri, and a panty sewing future for Haiti.

You can absolutely forget about any kind of real infrastructure investment during his reign unless Obama and the Congress turns Republican.

I doubt the latter will happen, so status quo it is.

What will become of the current FAILED/NGO republic?????

Haiti's future does not depend on Bill Clinton. If Haiti's leaders have a solid agenda of development, it does not matter if he's there or not. In spite of that, I think his name and influence can be used to help.

But Bill Clinton is first and foremost an opportunist just like any other politician.

Personally I don't believe he has any ill will towards Haiti or Haitian people. In fact it may make him look good if there is some progress.

I stick to my opinion that the Haitian rice growers were purposely sabotaged when Clinton was in office. Not out of ill will but his backers wanted it done. So f&^%$ it. He did it. Didn't matter much to him.
