Shortly after graduating from college, I went to Belgium on business.

An elderly, Belgian, co-employee and I talked about Haiti, the USA, and European history over lunch.

He said to me: "I want to show you something" and he proceeded to drive me "there".

It was Flanders Field, where WWII US war dead remain buried to this day.

He said with a slight tear in his eye: "I am here today because of them".

I knew right then that the USA was a GREAT country and that I was proud to be an American-Haitian.

So let us remember "them", and be very proud that we are Americans.

I am an "American-Haitian"; born in the greatest country this world has ever known:

The USA, and under one of its greatest presidents: General Dwight D Eisenhower.

At least that's what my parents believed, and they were pretty damned smart people.

Keep it quiet though, becuase he was a, ah, ahh, ahhh, Republican. OMG!!!

I only keep the "Haitian" because I spent the first 11 years of my life there.

I think many of us (including myself) sometime lose sight of this and therefore, "holidays" like Memeorial Day, bring things back in perspective.

It's too bad Haiti doesn't have people here to jump to her defense like that.

No country on this planet has invaded, killed to further its economic and political dominance like the United States. Invasions and mass killings from Irag, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Cuba, Haiti, Korea, Vietnam ....just to name a few.

There are white Americans in Haiti bad mouthing my people and our culture.....they're there clearly not because they want to be ...but because they're gaining financially.

I'm tired of answering the question of what I'm doing in this country....for the last time, I'm here not because I want to be but because it is the world's largest economy When the time comes and worldwide boycotts of american made good crumbled this country to its knees....I will leave.
