On Tuesday, President Michel Martelly, and Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe signed five presidential decrees, including repealing the Order of September 2, 2010 [Government Preval] declaring the city center a public utility.
The signing was attended by Patrick Rouzier, Adviser to the President, Ms. Hyacinthe Gabrielle, the Mayor of Port-au-Prince and Josiane Tribié, Representative Michel Mourra SOS Downtown, the Engineer Jacques Rousseau, Minister of Public Works and Mr. Thierry Mayard Paul, Minister of Interior and Local Authorities.
The 5 Presidential orders:
- Decree repeals the decree of September 2, 2010 signed by the Government which had declared Préval the center of the capital, public utility.
- Order Establishing the old center of the city of Port-au-Prince
- Order limiting the need in terms of public buildings, this new space is identified [yellow], which will be declared a public utility for purposes of public buildings
- Order making the Champs de Mars, a National Park
- Order declaring area for the sea
President Martelly said that the signing of these decrees were repairing a miscalculation of the previous government and the shopping center opened for entrepreneurs, including housing starts will generate jobs. "Today's decision is made, the order is signed. Unite to rebuild the downtown, "saying that the capital does not rebuild without the effort of the private sector and the contribution of its people. The Head of State invited the Ministry of Public Works to register as a priority the publication of new construction standards of the city center.
