Mwen la wi Benz! Mwen a'p evite pale nan koze sa yo. Sanble nou pwa'l gen 3 kanaval chak ane. Gen anpil moun ki deja a'p pale de kanaval an Novanm. Divalyeris yo mèt jwi kanaval yo a'k fanmi yo!

These "carnivals" I would say might stimulate the "economy" a bit, if diasporas and Haitians (go to Haiti and those that are in Haiti) spend more for goods/services due to the carnival it helps to stimulate the 'ECONOMY".

This is an "if than only if" type of an equation.....

Preparations for carnival of flowers

Can some one tell me what flowers they taking about? For decades country men are cutting trees down to make chako. Eske se fleur ki nan bounda sweet mickey yo. If its up to me they can have Kanaval du Kokoye and when they done pou yo fe Kanaval mango he's probably putting Kanaval masisi on chanmas soon, who knows. I would think a better preparation would have been done. Such has environment clean up by planting FLOWERS and TREES just things to attack tourism the Hygienic issue in Haiti first. I can bet the floats was the priority and kicking all these poor people out of chanmas. My coach once said something to me sweet mickey remind me of that quote " a nigga will stay a nigga"

Stimulate the economy maybe and its a worthy goal but why the duvalierist symbolism. No reason for that at all.

Trinidad makes a ton of money off their carnaval. A big mas band can pull in millions per year. But Haiti does not have that level of organization yet.

Don't know or ever heard of the Carnival des Fleurs to be honest....waiting for someone to clue us in....where on earth are we getting these flowers from. Don't know of any amazing nursery in Haiti that could possibly grow enough flowers for a carnival.

Its a bunch of garbage around every corner in Haiti, and thinks to get people sick. That guy in his administration moving into big investments that benefits his pocket the deal was done. Sweet Mickey in his crew are working for a bunch of international leaders he was given specif instructions so he's doing his job but now for the people of Haiti.

so i just leaned from my mom that the "carnaval des fleurs" predates the duvaliers. my mom was born in 1931 and she said it goes way back to the 1910s. she believes it was called "fetes des fleurs" back then and in her time as well.

here's what i just found on the net:

haiti-1916-archer-family-575x352.jpg

This is the Archer family, one of the oldest and elite families in Haiti in their car in 1916. Back then Haiti celebrated a holiday called Fête des Fleurs, so here are members of the Archer family in their best, riding in their flower-filled vehicle as part of the parade celebration.
