Under a hot Florida sun and weather in the 90s, tens of thousands of Compas Music lovers made their way to Miami’s Bicentennial Park for the 10th Annual Compas Festival held in commemoration of Haitian Flag Day. Recognized as one of the largest music festivals in the United States, it featured top Haitian bands such as T-Vice. Sweet Micky, Mizik Mizik, Djakout, and Carimi, among others.
The bands held nothing back as this is probably the largest audience most of them see all year. Acts such as T-Vice, and Sweet Micky had troupes of dancers in their acts, which is seldom seen on the stages of smaller venues. The event is so huge as to attract well known national brands such as Starbucks, as well local Haitian Restaurants selling traditional food. Haitians from all all over the United States, and Haiti, make it a point to attend this event every year.
