If you’re going to drive in Haiti, hang onto the steering wheel, because driving in Haiti is a trip!

This is a HaitiXchange classic. It was shot during one of HaitiXchange’s first visits to Haiti when the airport road was being worked on. Since then, the airport road has been upgraded. It has traffic lights, and is usually in decent condition.

Ti-Joe, like everything elsem they weren't maintained and went into disrepair. They appear to be back now with solar-powered versions.

When I lived in Haiti (1970s), they had traffic lights. What happened to them?

I remember when the airport road was being fixed. That was such a big mess. It took a really long time, and they didn't know how to keep traffic flowing smoothly. Poor planning.

I don't think I can ever drive in Haiti. I'll let someone else do the driving.
