Haiti rekindles a long forgotten sport.

The gloves are on for the Haitian Boxing Championships!
This Saturday at 7:00PM will be the long awaited “K.O. Night” where boxers Rafael Larose and Jose Molgan will box at the Trotyl Bar and Lounge. Admission for the event is 1000 gourdes.
In recent years, the number of Haitian boxers has risen dramatically, and there are now over 20 Haitian boxers registered in Haiti. The Haitian Boxing Association which has always existed, recently started talk about the participation of women in the sport as well as the obstacles which still pevent them from participating, including the fact that they often regard it as unfeminine.
The Saturday event will also host the following matches: Mack Benoit vs. Alexander Santano, Marlin Hernandez vs. Grecia Nova (female boxers), and Odias Durneizil vs. Nelsido Agramonte. The event is sponsored by Sogebank and will feature “DJ Live” providing music. See you there!
