On my way back from Haiti, we were treated to a new gangway, enabling us to board the plane without the usual long , hot walk on the tarmac which seems even longer when you have your Barbancourt Rhum (5 etwal) under your arms.
On our way up the steps to the gangway, we even passed what appeared to be the new Delta Airlines waiting area on the verge of being completed. With ony two gangways and the iminent introduction of Delta ailrines flights to Port-au-Prince, I will assume that people will still occasionally have to walk along the tarmac when more than two airplanes are present.
These gangways have been under construction for quite some time, and are part of a massive airport rehabilitation and modernization program. Even though I am all for modernization and realize that this will help in bad weather, as well as help many elderly and handicapped in accessing aircraft, I will definitely miss that blast of hot Haitian air when the airplane doors swing open, which let you know that you are in Haiti Cherie!
I forgot to mention that there will be an even bigger gangway built just beside Heathrow Airport Parking. That project was under research, so not quite sure when construction will start.
Yes, that is very true. These gangways have been under construction for about 10 months. After construction was complete, the long wait was definitely worth it.
this isn't really a modernization...i went to haiti this summer and i didn't see any big changes except 3 jetbriges...they have a lot more to do if they really want to modernize the airport.
Even during discussion on foreign policy which is considered John McCain's fad, Barack Obama has managed to force the opponent to be justified, having put it in position of the protected. It has occurred, when speech has come about Pakistan.
Those who live near airports, find it convenient to either walk, drive, take a bus or a cab a short distance away, rather to take that long commute or being stuck in traffic. Although it's noisy and possibly being in an unhealthy environment around those plane emissions.Miami airport transportation
