Greetings from Haiti – October 2008

A long, uneventful, and crowded flight from JFK International Airport in New York got me to Haiti in one piece.  I left the United States in the turmoil of a pivotal election and a difficult economic crisis. I arrived in Haiti still reeling from its own, ongoing economic crisis made worse or course by the U.S crisis, as well as the devastation of multiple hurricanes.

Would I immediately see a big difference between this trip and my last one? Are people talking about Obama, the same way we are in the States? Are they excited about the prospects of a African-American U.S. president? Do they care? Or is the day-to-day grind going on a usual?

Come visit this blog often during the next couple of weeks, as I will try to bring pictures daily and keep a blog of what I see going on in the country. Also, let me know what you would like to see, and I’ll see if I can take some pictures and video.

Est-ce que on peut toujours trouver une roue libre pour descendre la ville poliement?

I was in Haiti for the week-end of October 10th. The people are a bit apprehensive. They are happy, but a bit scared that something bad could happen to him ie,assassination. But overall the mood was positive.

Did the people have concerns about Obama running for President? Does this bring any change if ever he wins? CleanWindows

How does Haitians respond or reacts if Obama wins? Would it have a worst or good result? Or the people just ignore it as an everyday event hapening as usual.
