Being a Miss Universe contestant requires sponsors and money. Haiti is in shambles and many don't  have money to eat, so why would they have money to send some girl to a Miss Universe contest. I also doubt someone would actually want to represent Haiti because of the way it is today.

That guest said: Haiti is in shambles and many don't have money to eat, blah, blah, blah.'

Hey,guest people like yourself I usually tell them to just: shut up, and mind your own damn business. We only need those who are willing to help with 'OUR CAUSE'.  just make me sick.

Le Kamokin;  SHUT THE HELL UP   why don't you learn how to read before opening your mouth.

People are eating DIRT in Haiti right now.  Go do something about it since you are so willing to help.

If you are unable to participate in a debate with no positive thought, you need to just seat on the side line and think for a moment. It is time that you need to be positive and want to participate in things that are positive, that presente posite image rather than crawling into the basic. Some people in the United States are unable to eat a meal a day but Americans are everywhere helping others. You guys and girls need to think more of the positive aspect instead of the negative facts of life. Positive attitude is contageous, positive attitudes produce positive result while negativity enduces regression.

Thank you for your time and patient

Pierre

Pierre;  I don't think you understand.  Haitians are literally eating DIRT.

I am surprised no one posted the articles from the New York Times and other newspapers.  They are baking clay cookies and selling them in Haiti.

Apparently it helps with the hunger and provide some minerals.

This is crazy, you guys are telling me Haiti can not sponsor a team of at least ten people to a major international event that could put some positive image on our crabby image around the world. Please give me a break, did you not read the thread about some rich Haitian guys who are starting an investment bank with 150 millions dollars. If we participate in 1975  why cant we participate in 2004.An Hatian church in Brooklyn could probaly  sponsor the pageant if they have  enough members who are generous and willing.Poorer countries are participating ,explain that to me.

We are not saying it cant.  Any Haitian group can do it if they have the interest.

I and others I have spoken with have no interest in a Miss Universe pageant.

It is important to you...  get a team of like minded people and get it going.  Send a petition to these rich Haitians and see if they are interested.

Best of luck.

night of Saturday, July 16, 1977, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the memories of Evelyn Miot (Miss Haiti 1962 and first black woman to make the semifinals); Anne-Marie Braafheid (Miss Curaçao and 1st runner-up in 1968); and Gerthie David (Miss Haiti and 1st runner-up in 1975) seemed to inspire Janelle, the first black woman to ever win  the competition , did you hear that lekamokin .Just as we inspire other countries to seek their freedom ,we inspire youg women from other countries to be their best, and yet what better it is  that we need to inspire our young Haitian women ,and to seek glory  for our country.God has given liberty , yet we have seek bondage by  always yoking ourselves with hopelessness.
