I am starting this discussion about the elections that are supposed to be taken in Haiti, if  the Good Lord  makes nothing happen. Do you think the Elections will be fair, democratic , and transparent at all levels? Do you think the Presidential , Parliamentary, and Local elections will   create a new power of structure inside Port-Au-Prince? Should Guy  Phillipe Run? Would he win?  Would The American  government backed him ? Can Mr.Latortue  try  to run constitutionally since in fact he is only a Prime Minister not Mr Boniface the President? Would Aristide be allowed to run if he comes backs? Would he be allowed into Haiti? Would Guy Phillipe and his rebels overthrow Latortue  before the elections can occur? What are the policies would you think the Haitian populace will support? France's return of the 22 billions, Withdrawal of the UN troops ? Trial of Aristide?  American frienly policies?  French frienly policies?  Haiti's FTA  participation ? (American Continent wide trade)  Security  in The country? Return of The Army? How Many Canditates there will be ? Would there be any coalition? What role Andy Apaid will played? Evans Paul? Marc Bazin? Would  the Diaposra demand participation in the next election like the Dominicans do? 2011 if stable? What will happen  w ith Haiti's drug problem? What kind of relationship should Haiti has with Caricom? Cuba? France? Canada?  The Dominican Rep. Please these are some of the things I want people to be asking, discussing right now,you are free to comment respectfully, give  your  opinion on  any of these questions , discuss  these things with your friends online and offline , invite people to this website, and finally we  should to raise our voices  because I don't think no one is hearing the Diapora Community eventhough our money keeps Haiti afloat. Most members of the Diaspora ,I believe are for the average Haitian , not the political elite and not for  foreing   powers. Go ahead.

One more big question  ? What impact the US election will have on the one in Haiti? A change in policy or same as usual? Would Kerry or Bush win? Which one them will win Florida? How much Haitian and Cuban support will each get?Would there  be a repeat of 2000? Should not The UN monitors the FEC, the state boards? If Kerry wins would he put in place Haitian frienly American policies?

I don't think that would be an election, I think it would be selection instead. White America and french would make their Selection between their white haitian Valet.

The Haitian people are not in the game anymore. The only way for haitian people to be back on the table is to make another 1804, but I think I'm just dreaming for now...

I try to look at matters in a positive way.  I truly believe Haiti is heading in the right direction now.  The Guest that started this thread asked a lot of great questions, question that makes us think?   I believe we should all stand behind our new leader now though I don’t agree with the way he was placed in power.

Right now, the world is watching, and every dollar that is sent to Haiti will be monitor.( a least I hope)  I’m an Aristide guy, I love him and believed in Him but now he is History and we need to move forward.

I would like to be positive as you are but I can't. Those guys have made the haitian bicentennial  a nigthmare. How could they talk about democracy after what happened in february 29th?

I'm sorry for you Haitian101 they show that they don't really want the poor to vote. By putting in jail or killing all Lavalas leader they don't show they really want a fair democratic election in Haiti.

The only thing White America and French, want is to put the white elite in control of haiti and put black Haitian as theire slave. You can see those whites who are living in Haiti i don't even think they have notice we are in 2004 and thing must changed.

The big question is: Would Aristide be elligible to participate in that election since he did not finish his term, constitutionnally I beleive yes is the answer and would the majority support him once again? Please discuss without emotion....

I am answering one the questions that I asked   because I just found out that Lartotue and his team would not be a canditate on the upcoming elections, he had make a deal with the shadowy "Council of Sages" , I think that was the US's pawn and mouthpiece  to select their own leaders such as Boniface.Boniface constitutionally can not be a canditate and as far as  TiToti  I hope he respect his promise and not endanger the polical process , he has  already starting to do that by arresting Lavalas members and  playing hardball with the the Guy Phillipe rebels by giving them a deadline by Sept 15 to disarm.Constitutionally, he was to hold within 90 days   after the departure of Aristide.I have another question to ask  and here it is: What should Haiti do to stop the Konbit tradition from corrupting  the local elections? Should each department  also elect a department council to monitor the Senators and The deputies? Why Haiti should not a forward  referendum to decide on major issues and remove bad officials, so they will become more effective , and less corrupt? Why does Haiti does not  put an accountabilty report law for the national budget and the works of the Parliament? Why don't each departement get its own budget according to  needs ,population, and revenues. That would create a competitive nature among the major cities,  the farmers will not have to go  the capital,  and the regionalism  problem will be downplayed.

Manigat  formally declared his intention to seek  the precidency in 2005 , what do you guys think? Personnaly, I think  we need to see new faces ,Manigat was part of a controversial election in 1987 , he accepted his losses in 1990 , he should do Al Gore does , put his energy  to build democracy in Haiti.Give other reputable people a chance to govern the country, but I think he is totally entitled to seek the nomination, but he should  not be involved in Ton-Ton Macoute politics. What Evans Paul people?
