The point many of us can't seem to understand is that you cannot force people to see things your way in a free society.
And Similus2 is incorrect in her statement that we are the only ones responsible for haiti's present state. The United States and France are equally responsible for they have been deeply involved in many of the crisis that have befallen our country.
February 29, 2004 has affected each one of us in different ways, so don't expect a communal response. The sense of outrage and despair and the need for revenge is different for each one of us. It is like telling a rape victim to just move on...the rapist will pay you compensation. While it is indeed in the best interest of the victim to Move ON, he or she can only do that at his/her own pace.
Those who want to move on..MOVE ON and those who want to criticize should continue to do so. You don't need everybody on board to make things happen. Did Reagan need the whole country behind him to change the face of American politics? NO. Haitians are so stuck in this "l'union fait la force" crap that no one is willing to lead.
You guys make it seem as if this is a purely Haitian thing. If you could only hear the language from the virulent Clinton haters of past years or the present Bush haters. Hatred of some administrations have kept many more advanced countries divided and in gridlock.
So make your points and present your arguments but please refrain from the propensity for self righteousness.
As for the Foley/Latortue administration, I will always be part of the opposition.
