Yeah I suggest that you leave it alone, if he or they choose to leave out the Haitian flag, why should it concern you, it's their project, it's their busines to do what they want, if you gotta go scream on them about leaveing the Haitian flag out, maybe it shouldnt be there in the first place. Rep Haiti and let them do their busines. -It's an English West Indain thing- |

I'm the guest who started this thread. For the guests above who just dismissed what I was saying, go suck a duck, for those who feel me, I have an update. If you look at the video closely, I think the haitian flag is shown for a brief second...but of course not as prominently as the flags of Jamaica, Trinidad or St. Vincent, which is where Kevin Lytlle is from. |

Ok... guess, this does not come as a surprise. If you've ever been at any English-speaking Carribeean island during their celebrations of their carnivals... which they take very seriously, by the way... you will find many other Islands being represented in the pre-carnival pageant sections, except of course Miss Haiti...as Queen of Mask or as Queen of carnival. You may find displays of other's flags, except of course that of Haiti... Besides, we do not listen to the same music.... They're Raggea, Calipsos, etc....and we're into Compas... While many Haitians have the largeness to enjoy many other types of music... (including theyrs) They, on the other hand, won't even try to acknowledge Haitian Compas...openly. Whereas, you will hear Reaggae, kalipso, merringe playing along with Compas on a Haitian radio program.... or see many young Haitians enjoying their sounds without reservations or prejudices - some would even come to identify with these musics- You will seldom, if ever... hear any acknowledgment of a Compas song playing or talked about on their radio programs...or blaring out of their car radio speakers. Maybe that could be very rare occurence here in the States, where there exist a melting pot.... But it is very doubtfull to hear the sound of Compas music on their radios in their native islands, period... So don't fret... don't ever fool ourselves into thinking that we would one day get props from these English-speaking Caribs as a people. Besides, nan santiman kay anpil nou minm, pli souvan, trouve kilti yo tro gro soulyer pou nou, anyway. Mande tet ou youn kesyon. Eske Ou janm ale lan'w fet Jamaican, ou lan youn fet lot nasyon Caribean pou tande ke yo'ap jwe mizik Ayisien? Min pe-tet, ou ka sonje plizye okazyon nan fet Ayisyen ke tout mounn ap danse mizik Raggea, kaplipso, meringe.. etc... san pwoblem, san rezevasyon. Please let me understand of I'm wrong... |
