Former Haitian paramilitary commander Louis-Jodel Chamblain has been acquitted of a politically motivated murder in Haiti.

The former rebel and his co-defendant Jackson Joanis were found not guilty of the 1993 murder of Antoine Izmery.

Mr. Izmery was a former justice minister and financier of exiled former president Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

A late-night trial in Port-au-Prince led to the acquittal early Tuesday. However, Chamblain and his co-defendant face other charges and will remain in prison.

Chamblain once led the Front for the Advancement of Progress of the Haitian People, a paramilitary group blamed for 3,000 civilian murders during Haiti's 1991 to 1994 dictatorship.

The former commander had returned from self-exile in the Dominican Republic to take part in the rebellion that led to Mr. Aristide's resignation in February.

Mr.Dominican, Do you dislike Hatians and just like to argue with them? What is with you?

Don't you know a segment of Dominicans are negro like Hatians, and some Dominicans have Hatian ancestry?
