Either any country has a right to develop weapons of mass destruction, or no country should have that right. That would apply in a fair world which is not the case.
Some societies, cultures and governments are more responsible than others. I have no problem with the US, China, Russia, India and even North Korea having nuclear capabilities. When it comes to the Islamic Arab world however one must be realistic.
In the West, the enlightment and the intellectualism that followed kept Christian religious fervor in check and allowed for the advancement of democratic or secular governments. That has not happened in the Moslem World. There is the danger that these weapons will be controlled by people blinded by religious fervor and hatred. No responsible superpower can allow that to happen.
It may not be fair, it may be arrogant from the part of the US, but is the proper thing to do. It is a matter of survival.
