Have you been to Haiti lately?  What is the condition of the roads, i.e, national roads (routes nationales); secondary roads (routes departementales); mountain roads (routes bouriques et mulettes).

If you consider these roads to be inaquate can we form a committee to help rebuilt them one by one?

Guest above

I haven't been to Haiti, but I can tell you what I've seen on TV concerning some major roads in Haiti.  The Current government started to rebuild many roads and finished acouple. Route national I think was one of the roads they managed to finish.

Anyways I think someone who have been to Haiti Lately is able to let us know the conditions of the major roads.

I like the idea of forming a committee to help build or rebuild some roads in Haiti.

Dear Haitian 101:

I see you are one of the few Haitians who actually wants to walk the talk, while the others seem to be all talks no action, en creole, yo se barik vide.    Stay tuned, more information will follow within the next couple of weeks.  Let me identify myself for now as: Neg l'Atibonite.

Route Nationale # 1 is in very bad shape from Saint Marc to Gonaives, min bourik refuse fe route sa a pied.

Neg l'Atibonite

I don't blame the bouriks for not wanting to walk on route Nationale #1.

I was watching a Haitian Television program that showed a couple of roads being built and even completed.  They also mentioned something about not having enough money to finish the Route National #1.

I think it would be great if a private company took over the constructon of the building route National #1, where the diaspora can fund the project directly. Keep me updated

The roads that you saw being built were in Port-au-Prince, not all over just in one specific area.  It's possible they are using shabby propaganda, I mean, incomplete information, to make you believe the whole country is being rebuilt.

Sorry Haitian101 somehow I missed this post. I'm always for ACTION but of course I'd need alot of information before jumping in. I agree many roads in PAP are horrible ... but I also saw the Haitian people digging up the road when I was there I asked my husband what was happening and he said they just take chunks home to use. Man hole covers and water drainage covers were also missing sold for what ever reason. I'd like to know my investment is protected. Keep us informed Neg l'Atibonite.

i never knew that one of the reasons for the rue nationale being so bad in the first place was due to the people in those communities breaking up the roads for their own use. i was told by relatives that the roads were destroyed by the people, but i always assumed that it was during times of high political unrest.

Haitian 101,  I also missed your post, I think we all did.

Neg Latibonit, I did read your proposal but truthfully I have nothing to contribute at this time.

I am reading your reactions to the idea concerning roads in Haiti.  Please remember Rome was not built in one day and Haiti will be not rebuit overnight.  I will send good news to you in a couple of weeks, let's say before Easter.    Kreyolbro:  Nan point problem.  Kimbe la.  The flame is also burning in you.   Na we pi devan.
