Actually Lapired, I like your approach. I believe at this point, it's better that a group of us think about it more thoroughly. I still believe regional patriotism will be the downside of "choosing" a region. But the debate is not to be done by you and me. Others' input may make all of the difference.

I contacted two key units on the overall idea and on Saturday I publicly announced the tentative existence of the committee in a move to draw members. I own a TV show in CT and my voice is well-heard thanks to my involvement in tons of social activities in CT.

I have yet to contact Haiti ... I need more substantial participation from you guys before I can jump forward. I don't want to be seen like a fool. We need to discuss clearly what we plan to do before I make calls to those with some kind of 'executive' authority. Right now, we're not clear on what exactly we want to do.

I suggested the use of Private M on this site to initiate some more involved discussion, but it seems no one took note.

tijou, last week I did say I will initiate contact with a few individuals (which I did) but I FIRST needed a firm list of those interested on the site via Private Messenger.

You are the only one who contacted me on PM for info about my books. I have had any sign yet as far as the "road committee" is concerned.

tijou, so far you are the only one replying to my emails through the Private Messenger. I don't know what's up with the rest of the folks.

I have tons of questions too regarding how we will proceed. I have the ideas but without participants, it doesn't mean a thing. I thought we could be having a meeting this week based on the intensity level I witnessed the week before. However, everybody BUT YOU got cold.

Like I said over and over on my posts, tijou, I can not contact officials in Haiti unless I have a concise plan and committee. I will look like a fool if they say they want me to fax or email our plans or objectives to be in th eembarassment of not being able to do that.

I like your persevering positiveness, tijou. I really like that.

It's hard for the govt to stop people from taking chucks of the road when they're not really true leaders.  Those people that are taking "moso" of the road have reasons, don't you think.  I personally don't blame them.  Haiti is not going to get fix by Aristide from just rebuilding a couple of roads.  it's the same as when you clean your home and you leave a part unfinished, that part will dirty the part that is already clean.  That is exactly what the govt are doing from different sides, they fixed one major road and they think that the problem is solved which is far from the truth.  When the malere have no means of buying the things that they need of couse they will made do with what they have.  <<they don't have electricity, they cut up the beautiful trees that are a must in an Island to make chabon>>.  To tell you the truth, I think that Aristide was better for the country during his old term than now.  Until the malere including the vagabon have jobs HAITI will not move foward because the constant need for feeding themselves and their families will lead them in the wrong direction...

Guest,

Two questions, when the malere like you call them break the road moso pa moso what can they do with it?  This is my first time that i'm hearing they actually break the road, i've never seen it done.

What do you mean by until the malere and the vagabon have jobs Haiti will not move forward?  Is The evolution of haiti in the hand of malere and vagabond?

Nice comeback, tijou. My concern is that the guest only enumerated what he thinks is wrong.

Guest, we all know that we had a lot wrong. We're not bearing the title of being the poorest country in the western hemiphere for nothing.

This site is about what we're doing AS INSIGNIFICANT AS IT MAY SEEM to change that. COOLP, LET ME KNOW IF I'M WRONG.

And this thread has already led us to form a Road committee to discuss about the means to protect or build our roads in Haiti. Once we come up with a concise plan, we'll start implementing it. I've already established preliminary contacts toward that goal. But we need more helping hands, more generous pockets and more positive heads to join us.

If you are interested, (and you should be since you care so much about Haiti), please register on the site so you can use the Private Messenger where we can all talk about our next steps in a more secure and private environment.

I know we are in a hole, but i couldn't understand his/her argument.  Haitian always use "chabon" even when we had electricity 24/7.  Now a day they don't do reboisement anymore.  anyhow i know the malere which i don't know who exactly his/her referring to and the vagabond have their place in society, but what does that have to do with the country staying stagnant?

You could be working and still is a malere and the same goes for vagabond.  I know way to many vagabond who has jobs.

Then again what reason someone could probably have to break the road and take it home?  What can they do with it?  If they're doing it because they're frustrated, they're not hurting the government, they're just destroying the country.

It is true what I saw in Haiti, the roads were bad.  Hoping what you guys are trying to do for the country would be great, if we pass that message to the haitian station in NY, NJ, Ct.  It will be great; lots of luck, you have my support when ready.
