On my way to work this morning, I saw that an establishment in my neighborhood has been converted to a vodou temple. I was taken aback, because this is the first time that I've seen one actually advertised. Then I remembered that article on yahoo.com about vodou finally being recognized as a religion. I just wanted to know if anyone has seen anything similar around their way or elsewhere?

Hatian Princess,

Where is this Voodoo temple? In Haiti, or the U.S.?

I don't think a voodoo temple will be advertise.  what's the name of that temple? Do you know if they have any ceremonies there?

it's called "temple de trois roses--temple of vodou". the awning that advertised it was just recently put up, so i don't know if any ceremonies have taken place yet.

Voudou is not a religion. it is devil worshiping. this is the reason that Haiti will never get better because too many haitians worship the devil. Instead of advertising this voudou temple, you guys should be condeming it. No other group of people in the world received as bad of treatment as Haitians do. Haitians are called witches by both Bahamian and Dominicans. The carribean is not west africa, the government (if Haiti had a good one) should  try to eradicate voudou from the haitian culture and educate the people about christianity and try to make them more sophisticated.

Guest, shut the hell up. We've already heard from your type; ashamed of everything that is Haitian, except for the things that were imposed on us by French, white masters. We've had this discussion on this site a long time ago and the issue needs to be squashed. My being curious about Voodoo does not mean I condone it.

It' definitely part of Haitian culture whether you accept it or not, and I simply want to know more about it, not to follow it, but to have well-rounded knowledge about my beloved country and all aspects of its culture. Most people like yourself who condemn Voodoo, know absolutely nothing about it and don't even realize that they are playing off of fears instilled in our ancestors by white people who used to hate them and beat them.

Allez vous-en! Nou pa bezwen'w isit! I'm going to go take a look at that temple, and will give you guys a full report!

Guest;  Voudou will never be eradicated in Haiti; we won't allow it. So if I where you I would run fast away from anything or anyone Haitian and go hang with your fellow Dominican and Bahamian Christians.  Or better yet make yourself known so we can eradicate you.

I usually reply with serious answers; but you appear to be uneducated and not too bright,  so I'll just have fun with you.  Listen to your stupid reasoning; "the Caribbean is not West Africa" well its not the Middle East  or Europe either.

There is a group actually looking at plans to build a massive Voudou Temple in Haiti; bigger than any of the Christian churches on the island.  So if I were you, I would run fast and save your soul.....LOL
