Wait a second. You guys are completely forgetting about Haitian rap. Granted it is influenced by American Rap music, it is Haitian nonetheless.
Don't lose your mind to new froms of Haitian music with the same old Konpa and Bolero songs.....tired. Even Twoubadou music made a successful resurgence in a new, updated form.
Rap music has taken the rest of the world by storm, especially places where young people have something to say. Why not Haiti? Rap does not have to be part of our culture for us to take it, mold it, and create a form of it which is our own. |
