I say Jamaica had the most fun truck...I think it was the Irie Jam truck

The best Haitian truck was DJAKOUT because they had one truck riding in front of them with those girls drapped in our flag colors...that was nice because Haitians are usually very sloppy during the parade with no masqueradors etc...

The most fun on a Haitian truck goes to KING POSSE - although not too many Haitians knew of this truck since it had to turn on Nostrand and the ones that knew didn't show it much support, it turned out to be a great truck because at the end it brought many Jamaicans, Trinidadians and a whole lot of other people together...that truck brought the house down after they turned Nostrand, I was one of the original followers but by the time the truck turned Norstrand I couldnt even keep up cause the other nations rushed it and followed it the rest of the way

The best females goes to Haiti - Haiti took the crown from Trinidad this year...the Haitians were deep and the women were awesome...all shades of Haitian women were showing off their flags this year, so sexy...I was asked by a guy from Trinidad to take him to Haiti when I go cause he wants to see where these girls are coming out of

The best food goes to - Jamaica - I had a roti me but the Jamaicans probably had the most food stands there and they were jam packed

The best merchandise - Haiti - Haitians were really creative with the merchandise and trying to get Haitian merchandise was not easy...they had all the basic stuff but items like the big flag or the towel or the wrist bands those were gone fast...everywhere I went looking for the big flag I got the same answer "MI NUH HAVIT...DEM HAITIAN BWAY DEM WIPE MI OUT SINCE LAST NIGHT"

***I know alot of you will dissagree with me not noting TVice and Mickey, but I dont follow trucks where people go and start pushing and acting like bosales...cultures are meant to be shared, DJAKOUT's truck was getting props from other cultures on the sideline I know cause I seen alot of people from Barbados etc dancing on the side when they came by and taking pictures...but when MICKEY and TVICE came by people were running away in fear...we have to change our ways Haitians, we are no longer slaves running from the plantation, we have to know how to act civilized***

if there's anything I missed, let me know

Se Patati Patata oui!

People were running away in fear?  I think thats sad, but sying Haitians need to be more civilized and stop acting like run away slaves is wrong.  Gagan is a Haitian tradition, it's a Haitian ting...it's not meant for everybody so let them run.  But at the same time I promote balance, if Djacout had no gagan and King Posse had none, then foreighners who want to follow a Haitian truck should be satisfied.  Now if all the trucks had gagan I would think that it was totaly rediculous, cuzz someone might be physicaly impaired and want to at least follow one band.

Plus im sick and tired of Haitians feeling that they are rightious because theire western up bringing has provided them with the self hatred to inteligently critique they are own culture.  If you go to a Limp Bizkit, Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Marlyn Manson, The strokes, the white stripes and many many more, 70% of the concert goers go just so they can give gagan, but they call it a mosh pit.  The Mosh pit envelopes the whole concert, peopel are violently pushing and swinging all day.  But I never heard anyone telling them to stop acting like Run away slaves. More recently, groups like Lil Jon and The east side boys, Pastor Troy David Banner, Bone Crusher, Young Bloods, The Ying Yang twins have ushered in the Crunk movement by promoting gagan.  The whole song is get hype, push a mothafu**ka!  By contrast I hear a lot of Haitian groups screaming, "pa pouse, pa goumen".  But there cool and we need to stop acting like run away slaves.

Maybe one day, Jamaicans and Trini's will start giveing gagan too.  You never know, but like I said befor, I think the trucks that dont give gagan are more important then the ones that do because their all inclusive, I was just reacting to he "run away slave comment". I feel Haitians should be able to have fun with out some dramatic giveing "fun" some sad historical dynamic.

Dont mean to rain on your parade.

I don't give a damn what you listen to gagan, moshing, pushing is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

People started giving gagan at the Flag Day festival in Prospect park and it was uncalled for and inconsiderate.  There is no reason to start pushing people in a park packed with 10,000 + people  (with women and children among the spectators).  That mess was UNCIVILIZED!!!!!  If you wanna push the hell out of someone- do it when you are among only those who share that desire...... not when unsuspecting people are there!

Above guess Haitian101 couldn't agree with you more.  I don't even need to add  to what you just said.

Yeah I couldnt agree with you more either, like I said...I was responding to the Haitians acting like run away slaves comment which I felt was uncalled for and I felt had no basis.  If you never said that, I probably wouldnt of wrote anything. Peace out, be happy.
