An alien may be expelled from the Territory of the Republic if he becomes involved in the political life of the country, or in cases determined by law.

Thanks Amber, that was really Helpful

This third group should be solely business and shouldn’t have any political affiliations.

Haitian 101 and Amber;  for now I am just spreading the word in Boston about the need for a movement or grouping based on respect for the Constitution.  A group that would guide us away from radical partisanship and populism.   We won't be able to convert the radicals on either side; our goal should be to get that "silent majority" to play its part.

Dman has suggested a meeting in February to lay the ground works.  In the meanwhile, I think we should start to work on a letter of intent or manifesto to distribute to the different media at the appropriate time.  It should be an invitation to all who believe that following the Constitution and resolving all disputes in accordance with that Constitution is the best way to break away from Haiti's pattern of political barbarism.

Again this grouping will not be a pro-Aristide/Lavalas or anti-opposition platform; it will have a pro-Haiti and pro-Constitution agenda.

Let's hear the suggestions on how soon should we meet to decide on the manifesto and plan of action.

Students chant slogans against Haiti's President Jean Bertrand Aristide in Port-au-Prince, Haiti Monday, Jan 26, 2004. Hundreds of students took victory laps around a university building on Monday at the end of a demonstration against embattled President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. More than 400 students and their supporters made a loop that started at the University of Haiti, passed near the National Palace and ended at the starting point. The students carried a big banner that said ``Victory!'' ( AP Photo/Rodrigo Abd)

I was wondering how much of this "student protesting" is just built up frustration and how many "really" believe what they are marching around for?

How much Constitutional education do they get? and how many will we be able to educate and motivate toward the Third party?!

Amber;  LOL..LOL..LOL  the top guy seems a little "mature" to still be in college.  See the rabid anger in his eyes...you can't reason with that.

I am sure many of the students have a valid complaint against the government.....it is their life and they see no prospect for the future.  As students, they can be manipulated by both sides, but I am sure there are also future leaders among them with clear views on the situation.

Contrary to what the press would like to have us believe, the students don't all speak with one voice.  Last week a pro-government student organization also held a peaceful march.

All Haiti needs constitutional education, not just the students.  It is ironic that the so called educated groups are demanding that we violate the constitution and the so called uneducated masses are supporting its application.

As for the third grouping, I think we should go for the silent majority, the ones that are on the sideline watching events unfold and shaking their heads.  That includes most of the diaspora and a majority in Haiti as well.  As for funding, we need to first make some noise.
