Ronald Agenor was born in Haiti 34 years ago. For 17 years, half of his life, he has devoted himself to represent his country and his flag, and by winning for his country, he has made Haitians and non-Haitians alike proud of his achievement . He first gained national and international fame in 1982, when he was crowned as the first Haitian to win a gold medal in tennis during the Central America and Caribbean game, where he defeated the current Mexican Champion. Ronald Agenor was born in Rabat, Morocco in 1964. He started to play tennis at the age of 10 in Zaire, Africa where his father Frederic was a diplomat at the United Nations. He is the youngest of 6 children and discovered competitive tennis in Bordeaux, France at the age of 14 under the wing of his brother Lionel. He finished ranked number 8 in the junior rankings in 1982 reaching the semi finals at the Orange Bowl and winning junior titles at both Monte Carlo and Charleroi, Belgium. Ronald won the only Gold medal in the history of Haiti at the Carribean Games in Havana, Cuba in 1982. |
