To all KompaStage Supporters,
As a follow up to the many cancellation emails and letter of regrets you may have received in the past week or so, THE KompaStage staff would like to again extend an apology to the Haitian and Caribbean community as a whole.
THE KompaStage staff, comprised of dedicated young Haitian and American professionals, who devoted their personal time, talent and treasure to make sure a cultural event took place in New York City in the name of “freedom”. KompaStage weekend was planned as a celebrity first class experience for the Caribbean community in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Haiti's Freedom. The recap:
- Exclusive party at P.M lounge - kick-off event at S.O.B's - The Festival itself - and the upscale after party AT BLVD Nightclub.
Everyone was anticipating these long anticipated events. Due to the weather and other challenges, it was extremely difficult to move forward. As you may have imagined, the hopeful spirit of the team was to wait for a sign that these obstacles would clear themselves. Anticipating that weather predictions and other occurrences would change, we honestly waited. When having this major event was not possible due to these uncontrollable occurrences, a decision had to be made.
Our decision may have not been the best to some, but at the time that was the best we could have done. We would have liked to set up a rain date but the park made clear to us they do not offer rain dates. The area where the performance would have occurred is all grass. They had warned us that if it rained the night before, that we would not be able to put the stage on the grass, and walking on it would damage the facility and there would be mud, etc. With all of that and the other challenges; we had to make a final decision.
We are truly disappointed that we were unable to deliver the festival we had planned for many, many months. So at this point, we would like to publicly apologize to the entire Haitian and Caribbean community and many key KompaStage supporters once again. For one, all of the planning would not have been possible if it weren't for you.
IN ADDITION, we would like to extend a heart-filled thank you to Ms. Cathleen Laporte for her assistance in coordinating the after-party at THE BLVD Nightclub regardless of the conditions. Ms. Laporte was an independent contractor that was identified by Ms. Rachel Pratt to assist the team specifically with the After-Party Affair. An apology is owed to her for the inconvenience she experienced through out the cancellation process of KompaStage with regards to inquiries which were inadvertently directed to her regarding the reasons for the cancellation of the festival which she was not responsible to address. We apologize Ms. Laporte and thank you for your time and support once again. Any inquiry should have and still should be addressed to the general email address info@ KompaStage.com.
Even though the entire weekend did not go as planned we want to share our sincerest appreciation to all those who made great effort. Kudos to Red Carpet Entertainment and Ketner inspired for allowing us to merge our after party from the Blvd Night Club to Missions Nightclub. What a complete success.... thank you Fen, Fan Fan, Nadia, Marcus, Louis, Jean, Ketner Zamor and the others. Also we would like to specifically thank again all the artist, sponsors , politicians ,SOB's, The Rockmasters team, Caribbeangirlz Inc., Cassandra Bellabe from Adage Services, Red Carpet Inc., Radio Tropical, Power 105.1, The Haitian Times, all media, supporters from Beverly Hills.
