I've asked evryone I can think of, and no one seems to know the answer to this:

What is the word for "pinez" in English? You know, those little bugs that get into your mattress or straw chair, and bite the hell out of you in Haiti. I don't think it's a tick or a flea, but what is the correct word in English?

Are there such things as "bed bugs"? Are "bed bugs" the same thing as "pinez"? I thought "don't let the bed bugs bite" was just an expression. Are these things and "pinez" one and the same? What is a more scientific name for these bugs? I find it very peculiar that there is no english equivalent for these bugs.

An infestation can be recognized by blood stains and dark spots of excreta on sheets and mattresses, bed clothes and walls as well as a sweet, musty odor like the smell of fresh red raspberries (bed bug odor)."

Are these the same as the "Pinez" we know in Haiti?
