Oops, hope they don't end up dissing Boston like Wyclef did for 18 Mai (he came to New York instead!!) Plus I can't go anyway. That's the same date as the Tabou Combo 35th year anniversary...and you know that's gonna be big. Sorry to put your event on blast Kreyolbro.

LOL..LOL..LOL  no chance NegNwe.

I worked on May 18 Boston last year...no talk of Wycleff being there.

True sometimes Haitian promoters fail to deliver but T-Vice is playing the night before at Estelle's in Boston.  It is also noted it on their website.

Even if the Tabou concert was held in Boston, there would be no clash.  Different audience, different scene, different generation.

My only concern is that we will have a repeat of T-Vice's first Boston Kanaval a few years ago.  Boston Police panicked at the sight of the massive crowd approaching the reviewing stand.  They tried to have the band proceed without the crowd, of course that was a bad idea. They finally ordered the music stoped.

It was still the best Boston Kanaval and was the talk of the Caribbean community for weeks.  We are going to rule Blue Hill Ave. again this year.

Ok, I give Blue Hill props. Have a fun parade. Also, make sure pictures get posted to this website. (Send them to CoolP since I'm sure he'll be at Tabou also.)

Boston Kanaval is over and T-Vice once again ruled Blue Hill Ave.  Boston is definitely a Haitian town.....close to half the crowd was sporting the red & blue.

The police did allow the massive crowd following T-Vice to go before the reviewing stand this year..unlike two years ago.

Despite a few Haitian cultural traits (float being late, Delco problem, blown fuses, vagabond giving gagann) it was a good show. It was nice to see all the different nationalities jump up to T-Vice's sound.

Tomorrow is Cambridge Carnival across the river.  A much smaller affair perfect for families.  No bands just DJ floats.

NegNwe;  anpil foto of mad cuties available for sale...lol

Kreyolbro,

Did you "pran gagann" at the parade? (Did you give "gagann"?) Also, are there Haitians in Cambridge? Send HaitiXchange some pictures so we can see what it was like.

NegNwe

No bro, I don't understand the gagann philosophy. I have slam danced at Punk Rock clubs in my college days but it was consensual. Pushing innocent people at a large public gathering is not my thing.  I will however stop a vagabon in self defense.  At Haiti's Kanaval the magnificent police force took care of these imbeciles in no time.(baton..baton..baton..lol)  I felt safer on Chann Masss.

Cambridge was one of the more popular Haitian destinations in the 70s.  With gentrification and pushes by Harvard and MIT, the affordable housing stock has shrunked considerably. There are still Haitian and immigrant enclaves around Central Square and North Cambridge.

Cambridge International Carnival is different; any nation can participate.  The Brazilians are always a colorful presence. The crowd is usually one third local whites and most of the blacks and immigrants come from outside Cambridge.  It is only a 15 to 20 minute subway ride from most of Boston to Cambridge.

About the pictures; oh danm what's this...a blackout...to be continued...

Lol. As I expected from you, a very informative and concise response. I guess no pictures. Thanks Kreyolbro.
