Music and music videos represent the artist and his/her view of the world.  There should be no affirmative action in music and music videos.  The Martino brothers are of Italian (Dad) and Arabic (Mom) ancestry (please correct me if I am wrong) and we don't even know if they have any African blood.   Self love dictates that they see people resembling them as being beautiful; semitic or light mulatto or white looking people.  It does not matter if Haiti is mostly black and it does not matter who is buying the music or video. If the lack of representation is an issue for you, vote with your wallet.

It is an issue because blacks in their self hatred have elevated the mulatto to desired status.  Black groups anywhere in the Americas rarely use dark skinned girls as the symbol of beauty. That is not a Haitian issue, it is a black issue for blacks everywhere to deal with.  You can't demand that mulattos, or Arabs, or Italians appreciate your blackness;  they don't have to.  Instead, we should be asking black groups in every genre (konpa, rap, dancehall, R&B, zouk) why light skinned or mulatto looking women given preference over the darker sisiters.

People on here acting like Haitians are the only one that does this, it surprised the hell out of me, cuzz everybody do it.  Where have you been, or where do you live?  This has been an issue in rap videos for years, I dont think it's good but I dont see why every body surprised Haiti is not the exception.

Ps. I dont think the mom is mixed with Arab or Italian but the dad is.

Trust me when I say I would not buy their Albums at knife point. To me, their music is trash.  So the people they have on their floats are all of Arab and Italian ancestry?

Hmm have you seen the new Dancehall videos? They use dark skinned women to represent their women.  As for rap, it is out of control! Trust me when I say that people have been discussing this issue in rap for a while now. However, this is a Haitian site and i'd rather speak about it in the Haitian culture. The Jamaicans seem to be already trying to discourage their women from using bleach cream by putting dark skinned women in the videos.  Now what are we doing?  Shall we pick up the broom and start sweeping some more? Lift the rug up for me Kreyolbro, some more karkar needs to be hidden and not taken care of.

So I guess all in all you are saying that the martino brothers want to represent the Arab and Italian aspect of Haitian culture. Hmm ok.

Where did I suggest that?

Again...where did i say anything about culture.

If that is the way you understand my post, then so be it. There is nothing more irritating than when supposedly educated people fail to understand basic English.

Hate T-Vice all you want and praise Jamaica all you want (have you seen the Miss Jamaicas) the fact is Haitians of every colour and class have made T-Vice a power in the industry.  Most Haitians are not threatened by mulattos or light skinned people showing their beauty and loving themselves. You need to find the real reason for your envy.

LOL now was that anyway to answer a friend Kreyolbro? LOL

Anyway, it seems like you are getting personal with that supposedly educated line. I can expect that from a t vice fan.  It seems that many of you are soldiers standing in front of your band of terrible music...neg nwe don't let them get u man doooonnnn't lol.  Antouka, let's just sweep it under the rug like the true Haitians we are.  I will take your word for it Kreyolbro, since that is what you want me to do. I know you are being unbias anyway. ;)

Now that the issue has been swept under the rug, i've decided to ask T vice to come sing at my party. They said yes! So I expect all you fans to be there ok. :) LOL Kreyolbro can you sing? Ahhh it doesn't matter neither can they!!! You can sing happy birthday to me man. LOL Oh gosh.

Antouka, I hope what i've heard about this band is all false. It would be nice for a popular band in the Haitian circle to be a band that loves all.

I'm sick of talking about this issue already because it is too divisive.  I have no low self esteem, i'm not dark and nor would I care if I was dark.  I'm not jealous of light skinned people...my mother grandfather aunties uncles brother sister are all light lol. I just don't like people in our own culture misrepresenting us.

Chemin;  HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER...LOL

You are right, that is no way to answer a friend...if you were here I would just give you a Zoklo ..lol..lol  and we would laugh it off.

I am not a great fan of Konpa music; I admire T-Vice for the professional manner they represent us at international gatherings.  I do like the sound on some of their songs from a few years ago. I take it for what it is, light pop Haitian music; some of it make you dance. And they also rule at carnival.

As a birthday present I am reserving two tickets for you and a companion on the Haitixchange 2004 Kanaval stand in Haiti.  CoolP; please take note.

Yon REYALIS pa yon FANATIK. Flanbert, ou jis ta renmen tout moun wè bagay yo menm jan avèk ou. Sou sijè idantifikasyon milat la, men yon pati nan sa  kreyolbro te di:

I understand your feelings;  I would feel uncomfortable with a mixed child. I don't dislike other races, I just love blackness, so I would want my children to be black.  With interracial union, there is always the chance that a child will look like one of the races even when both genes are present.

Sa se gou pa l, men li aksepte chwa pa lòt moun tou. Respekte yon moun konsa.

Mwen menm m'ap mache dèyè tout bèl mizik Ayisyèn. T-vice se youn nan gwoup ke m pa tèlman renmen mizik li, sa se gou pam. Tiyem rachem banm Karimi, konpa kreyòl Sweet Micky paske nan album yo m jwenn plis pousantaj (%) mizik ke m renmen, men m pa gen ankenn pwoblèm ak gwoup T-vice.

Yon gwo kout chapo pou travay di yo.

Bel Kreyol tout moun ta renmen lot moun we'l jan yo we'l that is why we debate.

Nou konnen gen anpil anpil klassism avek prujudism nan ayiti. For the sake of giving my own head a rest, mwen vle fini poste nan sijet sa. Men, mwen konnen ke menm bagay koule sa pral retounen yon ban fwa nan forum sa paske se yon pwoblem ki vreman gwo ahn ayiti.
