Patati Patata;

Nice reply and I expected that question.  Well I visit Haiti and spend money there because I am in love with the people and I want to help the economy by spending and encouraging others to do the same.  Besides I would feel sick to my stomach if I was spending that money on another Caribbean island while Haiti is in such dire needs.

So if my people are in hell, I will gladly visit hell...for a few weeks anyway..lol

 Hi my beautiful people,

I understand that the question is what we can do? My mother has always tought me to do what i can with what i have where i am and to never say i can't because where there is a will there is a way and i think we all know that. We just need to put this in application.

There is something that a lot of people have been doing through out the country they form small committees with people who come from the same town of haiti as them and they organize themselves in finding help Pou komune kote you soti-a. N i am sure you have heard of them for instance you have FAMA which is Famille Amour en Action Inc. for the south of Haiti, Les cayes. right now we are in process of building a hospital in a remote part of Cayes "Ti rivye". People there are in need of hospital.

N i think if everybody could get together like that on a smaller scale; when everything is put together it would be beautiful and the whole country would benefit. Take in charge kanton kote ou soti-a. Men pou sa mache fok nou we intere komin peyi a. paske gen atoufe deyo a ki a fe lajan sou tet malre.

I am a full time student in college with a full time job, and i still find the time to paticipate in meetings with these commitees from different part of haiti and give my help not only to where i am from but to others as much as a can; and so should you.I think it's  a good way to look out and help if you can help de kanton pa limite tet ou pou ede youn-n selman.

I  posted earlier about the 'unsafe camionettes' I won't be too long. All I wanted to add is that I am not surprise that the people living in Haiti don't think that the bumpy roads,  not being able to get somewhere because there is no transportation, not knowing when the next meal is coming after a whole day on an empty stomach, being six years old and not in school and maybe will never be, are fun.

Come on people, let's say no to mediocrity. Do not glamorize it.

In conclusion:  Nobody having fun in their native land packs one day to go to a foreign and hostile land  in search of a better life. The people who are having fun in haiti come to the U.S but go back to Haiti. Until one can do that, get back to realty. Living in Haiti sucks again.

I 'll be going to Haiti  in August  for 2 weeks. First to see my native land again; second, to take my kids for the first time to meet their great grand mother. But after two weeks, yes, I will be back to the US. Why? so that my kids can have an education,  reach their full potential, so that I can go back to my job and ensure my old age ( retirement), So that I can drive my SUV on the Highway, so that when my kids open the refrigerator they can drink  their milk, juice, soda, ice cream whatever. This is what living is about. And these are only the basic not luxury. We have 90% of a country that can't do that! The lady who has to sell her produce from Kenscoff to Port-au-Prince walking miles and miles with a load on her head is not having fun at all. She would have preferred to be able to board a train or a reliable bus. We have to start thinking about people in Haiti like real people not object of arts...

do you seriously believe that anyone who thinks haiti is beautiful is actually glamourizing the mediocrity. I fail to see that.  I think that we can both acknowledge haiti for what it is (a beautiful place) as well as its accompanying flaws.  I think that its important to keep in mind that haiti has a lot to offer, but its the people in the country that do not take advantage of what it is offering.  There are haitians that live in the US and are living a poor life.  Do not pretend please that once one leaves haiti and obtain passage into the US that it will a life with the: SUV down the freeway and ice cream for their kids, nice clothes etc.  That life is open and available to few haitians.  Interview those sad looking men and women who work at the airport in miami and i am sure they will have a different story to tell, and I dont think an SUV is involved.

Above Guest;  maybe you should offer those sad Haitians working at the Airport in Miami a one way ticket back to the paradise they left behind.

Can you imagine the nerve of this country, offering them such a lowly job. They should have them running companies the minute they get off the boat.

I don't know what kind of Haitians you hang around with; but 90% of the Haitians i grew up with in the States do have that good lifestyle, SUV included.

Camionet Guest- But after two weeks, yes, I will be back to the US. Ha ha ha ha! The post above is so funny to someone like me...for these reasons.

You want to be back in the U.S. so your kids can go to school and reach there full potential? You know how many Haitian kids are born in the U.S. and go back to Haiti for there education and come back to the United States when there 12 and bloooooow past everybody else acedmicallly. Includeing the Haitians who were born and raised here.

Life to you is all about driveing an SUV? Oh my god?  So the cat in Haiti who eats fri-tay, plays soccer and dominoes all day and goes to a disco at night is not liveing. He has to have an SUV like you.twwip.  So a country cant be A country unless they have high ways...If thats the case with you, then you cant be going to Haiti for any other reason at all but to see your grand mother.  The lady walking from Kenskoff to Port-au-Prince is not haveing fun?  Of course she's not haveing fun! thats her job...how much fun do you have at your job...ask a coal miner or a mechanic how much joy in fun they have at there jobs... Her carrying provisions on her head?  Thats a global thing, I cant stress that enough to you Mr. Camionet...Ethiopia, Guatamala, the philipines, Senegal, Nigeria,Jamaica, guyana.  This technique is thousands and thousands of years old.  KreyolBro told me I was dreaming, I think your dreaming to, dreaming of a Haiti thats exactly like the United States.  Whats important to me is that people eat...thats of prime importance.  SUV's and highways...people cant eat that!

Ps. The cat whos eating some delicious Fri-tay and playing soccer and dominoes probably lives off the free money that his brother, his Aunt and "Maren" sends him every month or so, plus he cuts hair on the side.

Ps. I have nothing against SUV's aside from the fact that they are destroying our environment, for a mater of fact I was thinking about getting one, I just didnt realize that it had become a requiremint for liveing a fullfilling, fun and happy life.  I guess I can consider myself informed.

Patati Patata;  this is going nowhere, you totally failed to grasp the guest point.  This is not to say one is right and the other is wrong, but you are insinuating thoughts he or she never expressed.  You are talking above each other's head.  I am out.

I think the whole idea was how we can help our country. I've seen some bad comments about Haiti. If someone thinks that he or she is not willing to help.please do not critisize. W do not need all those negativities I've seen there. If you think that you are not haitian anymore, I can respect that.Once again, we are not looking for critics, we are looking for those who are whilling to help hait. Haiti has done enough for me, it had kept me alive for 18 yrs, now it's my time to pay it back.

saying that something is not good a multiple time,is not going to make it good. Instead of critisizing the roads, when you see a "trou" on the streets why don't you fil it up. It's time to stop leaving everything to a goverment.
