Chemin,

I didn't even finish reading your "book" and will come back to it later, when I have time. But yo, you gotta chill. I think the only solution to the flaws you find in the direction Haitian music is taking is for you to start your own band, work hard at making Haitian music thay way you believe it should be, and pray and hope that the rest of the Haitian music industry follows your lead.

You guys are as bad as the Haitian government, getting all bent out of shape over something simple, ready to slap someone silly because they don't agree with you. Respect each other, relish each other's different opinions, and go on with your lives!

Respekte Kokorat!

Well, we'll see what happens. You are right kokorat.   I'm sick of writing "books" as negwe would say.  I hope you guys enjoyed the HT vol III CD.

Twoubadou has been around for a long time, even before konpadirek. It was played by the "small people" what other would call "neg pye sal". Born in a village near Cap-Haitien, twoubadou was played by the small band in the area as well as small kids. When I was about 5, I was a drum player using "mamit manteg" I played with others using "tet boutey" as 'piston', a big wooden box called, 'manniba', chacha, etc....

As a Geologist I had the opportunity to travel in the heart of the country and twoubadou is the music played by small bands on saturday night 'bal' and small parties.

My mother was a 'madansara' and every Sunday night in the 'kwabosal' market, there was a small band formed mostly by the 'travaye machninn' entertaining the merchants.

Having a 'peyizan' background was one of my greatest experience. Many people will reject twoubadou because of its 'pep' origin. Twoubadou is sample. It is a cultural thing not made by or for sophiticated people.

All original Haitian like twoubadou the same way they are 'fou' about Rara and 'Bann Apye'.

Its funny because when I listen to a group like Boukman, it's as if im listening to every type of musical style there is. If your dancing, or your drunk and haveing a good time, you might not catch it, but if you sit and realy listen to a Boukman hit song, you'l hear Twoubadou, Kompa, rock, reggae, disco, dancehall and RnB. I often wonder why Haitians have not took to this art form like they have taken to Konpa.  Boukman's music has the type of quality that you would expect while driveing a Bens or a BMW, it's a signature style that is just pure quality.  If life was fair, Boukman would be going quadruple platinum every year.
