What was your opinion on the parade? I think tha the Haitian Times float was great, due to the fact that they had little time to come up with one. The rule about not being allowed to follow the float unless you have a costume was straight up BS.

that's exactly what i heard...my friend went as a plain-clothes spectator, and even she got to walk down the parkway.

I live in Denver and I picked up a copy of the NewYork post at a liquer store and all it said about the parade was someone got shot in the head while on a float.  They called it "the death parade".  I was like geeeez, I had to find an outlet that had more information on the parade then that.

It's really messed up how the media will take something negative and run with it. I was right there and saw it happen. The man was not on a float. As terrible as this incident was, the parade stopped for about 30 minutes then continued. many people didn't eevn find out about until they went home and saw it on the news. It was a terrible and unfortunate event, but it id not trun the parade into a so called "deat parade." Things were kept under control and the parade continued.

HaitiXchange was a witness to the unfortunate events during the parade. We even got a chance to snap some pictures as the cops pushed us behind barricades. The victim was not shot on a float, but by a man who was on a Trinidadian float that he (the victim) was trying to climb onto. After the resulting panic subsided, we managed to get a couple of shots of the aftermath.

We would like to send our condolences to the family of Anthony Bartholomew whose life was senselessly cut short.

Yes that was SAD, overall it was a decent FESTIVAL I was with Djakout and then T-Vice our Hatian people were at their best behaviors exept for this "Gagann" thing. The nyc police have no clues on how to deal with this Phenom perhaps "HPD" can send a few guys up for the occasion. I referred to the event as a "Festival" because that's exactly what it is. Incidently the kind of violence that did happened there is almost a "norm" in the world that we live today; keep participating in the festival just the way you keep doing what you need to keep doing...

Lets thrive for Peace.

I would say there were about a million people or more on the PKWY enjoying the carnival. What I don't understand is why was only a clip or two was shown on TV? Now I question, if the incident didn't happen if the parade would get any air time at all. Bloomberg, Hillary and some other people showed their faces for a split second and were gone, they had to flee from all those poor folks.

I was looking for Haitixchange but I couldn't find them, I was with the Haitian Times floats which was the bomb. The Haitian Time did a great job in a short period of time.

I looked at every group of people at the Parade and none were as beautiful as the Haitians. (Haitian people are beautiful people)

The Daily News says Bartholomew simply bumped into a fellow parade-goer dancing in the street who then shot him.

But the New York Post reports the shooting may be gang-related. The Posts says the shooter was a member of the Bloods and was supposedly upset that Bartholomew laughed at his hand signals.

Did anyone hear info. on the stabbing?

In the paper it said that the person who was stabbed is named Jean Thomas (sounds pretty Haitian to me), he is from NJ. He was stabbed by Fransco Sejour also of NJ. He is currently in critical condition by doctors believe he will live. I pray for him and the family of the man shot and killed at the parade. Lord when will all the violence end??[:(]
