Why y'all gotta be dissing Wycleff? He's huge now, he can't just keep on coming to Haitian community. We always think that once someone "blows up" and gets big, they have to keep on coming to our back yards. Wycleff is being shared by the world now, not just Haitians. As long as he doesn't deny his Haitianness and always represents, he's ok in my book. The same goes with Garcelle Beauvais. Let them lead their lives. Not everyone was meant to be an activist.

Now for all the undercover Haitians out there going out of their way to make people don't know they are Haitian...that's another story. Speaking of undercover Haitians, what's the real deal with Usher? Is he Haitian or what?

Negnwe you stole the words about Wyclef  J.and "Fancy" out of my mouth.  I cannot understand why in the world people are talking bad about Wyclef when he still represent us where ever he goes.  This is a mentality many (I’m happy to say, not all us) Haitian people share, “you have to come chill and play cards with me even though you have a busy schedule.” They want to say “mwen konin mi-sie wi, li tu jou lakay la”.  All the people that is talking bad about Wyclef J. and Be needs to get a life (Seriously).  Stop acting like these people are your homeboys and homegirls, they are famous and like Negnwe said, now the world need their Haitian talents, let them go and represent.  You guys really think with all the money their making there’re going to live in our communities?

And why should they?

Sandra you mean to tell me you think Wycleff is cocky?  Please tell me I'm wrong for assuming that's what you are refering to.

With treatments like that it's like doom if you do and doom if you don't with the Haitian community.  What more does Wyclef need to do to represent for the Haitians?  To be a star you need to market yourself and sell yourself, not just to Haitians but to everybody and that is what wyclef and Garcelle do.  Now Imagine you are Tyrone (A Fairly New Haitian Star) you are reading how the fans that want to love you are treating Wyclef, someone who has always rep for Haitians, how is that going to make you feel about what is in store for you later on when you have to take care of business and pay some bills.

After reading the interview with Tyrone, an incident came to mind that occurred back when I was going to college in the Boston area. A friend of mine and I went into a Wendy's fast food restaurant where two female cashiers were talking amongst themselves. Although I really wasn’t paying attention, I overheard one of them say “Oh Haitians ain’t cute, I ain’t never met no cute Haitians.” Even though it was none of my business, back then I was hot-headed, and had to say something.

So I turned around to my friend and said real loud so everyone in the restaurant could hear me: “Well, at least I don’t see any Haitians making minimum wage behind this counter!” Well, after the girls got mad, they went and got their manager and he came over and asked us to leave. Even after I told him why I said what I said, he said there was no reason to disrespect his entire crew like that. My friend and I took our time and ate our food thinking the police or some type of security was going to storm in at any minute. When we were done, we left peacefully under the glares and snide remarks of the minimum wage-earning, Wendy’s crew.

As someone previously mentioned, I find us to be such an attractive people and hopefully with the help of Tyrone and Garcelle, the world will realize this also. I just wanted to share this memory with HaitiXchange readers.

“Minimum wage”

Sister, I Haitian101 take my hat off to you.  How dear those Wendy’s employees say they ain’t ever seen any cute Haitian guys.  It’s obvious they haven’t seen me Haitian101 and Tyrone before.

Mem si yo te anraje, yo pa kabab di yo pa jam we yon bel ayisien.

If any of  HX members and guest are working in a fast food restaurant or making minimum wage, don’t think that the above guest or I is talking bad about people that are making wage.  I’m sure the above guest was referring to the lack of class those particular Wendy’s employees were manifesting.

OMG... Upon my return from Haiti all my friends and family were dying to know about my trip and all I could say was... Everyone is so beautful there. I have 6 sisters now thanks to my husbands dad.. and every single one of them are so beautiful! Not to mention my Hotty Husband!! ((hubba hubba)) anyways... Haiti is full of natural beauty unaltered by chemical inhancers or airbrushes. No boob jobs or nose jobs just naturally beautiful people... Shessh! Okay.. I'll jump down now!
