Listen, I was at the awards, and Whitney and Bobby got more claps than our own haitian artists. Although Bobby Brown got a little booing when the announcer asked the audience if we should make him an honorary Haitian, the audience showed much love to Whiyney. I don't know if anyone noticed, but Whitney was looking real weird. She had a hat on her ehad that she kept on adjusting, as if she was scared it would fall off. Also, they chased photographers away who tried to take pictures of the pair before they got on stage. The whole event was strange.

Speaking of strange. What's atrange to me was last yera when the Shepherds presented an award to Zin? What was up with that? I thought these guys are supposed to be "Christians". What the hell were they doing over there at a such worldly affair?

What's wrong woth the Shepherds presenting an award to Zin? Is there some sort of Christian rule (that I don't know about) saying that Christians are not supposed to mix and mingle at so called "worldly" events? Does presenting an award to Zin make the Shepherds any less Christian? I must be missing something. Please explain.

Was the whole night a big Bust?

People tend to ride on the negative things only.

Can someone share some good news about this event?

I bet you if Haitian101 was there he would remember the positive (not forgetting the areas that needs improvement).  Who know what goes wrong in the hotel arrangments, artis not being satisfy at all the big grammys, and all the other American based award ceremonies.

Guest, if you read the HX article carefully, they are not saying the event was perfect, but that is is a setp in the right direction. I wasn't there, buit as wack as you think it might have been, it seems to have been fairly ambitious and grandiose. I agree that this is the type of thing we need in our Haitian communities.

Lo siento.....I spread the rumour about Whitney and Bobby Brown getting lifetime achievement awards, my source was a flawed source, but I did suggest that Exit Entertainment was not the most reliable source in my post.

While the attempt was commendable, its execution was flawed.  In the end, people are going to remember the end product and not the inspiration behind it or the work.  This event, and any event, can get better.  This is her, what?  Seventh one?  Imagine what the first one must have looked like!?!  It will take time, but I know the potential exists for an excellent show.  Any Florida posters out there willing to make that sacrifice?

Peace....

I thought would say a few words.

Although Haitixchange did a nice job covering this event, I think that the VIP was not well organized. My husband and I flew in from NY (for the past three years) just to be part of this event and was very disappointed in the way the VIP tent was setup.

When VIP tickets are purchase, VIP service should be realized by the customer.

The "stars" did not mingle with the VIP guest, and I had no autographs for my children.  I think that is probably what Cynthia Blanc thought of  when she proposed VIP status for guests (rubbing elbows with the stars and autographs from the stars)..

I will not abandon my yearly presence at the HME due to the disorganization, because the HME is "the best thing since pockets" for young Haitian-Americans like myself.

Next year for our 200th year celebration my gown will drag the floor, and I hope all Haitians that attend,  will do the same.

Much appreciation and respect to Ms. Cynthia Blanc and crew for their gift to the Haitian community world wide!

M.
