Whoa! Where the heck did this come from? I'm definitely gonna be there. All the bands they are advertising better be there or else somebody's gonna get smacked!! I'm tired of false advertisiment in the Haitian community.

I AM "MUSIKED" OUT....  ITS ONE MUSIC FESTIVAL AFTER ANOTHER....SEEMS LIKE IT'S THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO

WHAT ABOUT THE PLANS FOR A MAJOR PARADE ON EASTERN PARKWAY FOR MAY 18.  OR EVEN A PARADE ENDING AT THE PARK AND THEN THE MUSIC FESTIVAL.

BOSTON'S HAITIAN FLAG DAY PARADE NOW IN ITS THIRD YEAR IS FAST BECOMING A TRADITION IN THE COMUNITY AT LARGE. HELD ON ONE OF THE CITY's MAJOR BOULEVARDS, IT HAS ATTRACTED MARCHERS FROM HIGH SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, CHURCHES, PROFESSIONAL ORGANISATIONS, AND POLITICIANS. IT HAS CHILDREN, TEENS, ADULTS, AND SENIORS.  IT HAS MARCHING BANDS, DECORATED FLOATS, AND COSTUMES.  EVERY YEAR THE POLICE COMPLIMENT THE ORGANIZERS FOR THIS FAMILY ORIENTED EVENT WITH A RECORD OF ZERO ARREST.

BOSTON'S PARADE IS USUALLY HELD ON MOTHER'S DAY SUNDAY...BUT BECAUSE MAY 18TH FALLS ON A SUNDAY THIS YEAR THEY MIGHT MOVE IT A WEEK.

IF THE NEW YORK AREA 500,000 OR SO HAITIANS ARE NOT CAPABLE OF ORGANIZING A MAJOR PARADE ( I know there is a small one in Spring Valley).... I AM INVITING ALL NEW YORKERS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO COME TO BOSTON ON MAY 11TH OR 18TH AND TAKE PART IN THIS BEAUTIFUL PARADE.  WE ARE ONLY 60,000 PLUS BUT WE ARE ON THE MOVE.

Hold on a second now, this event is much more than just bands playing, but that's what will get people to show up. Also,  New Yorkers aren't gonna travel all the way up to Boston for the parade up there. There's just too much stuff going on down in New York.

Hopefully it will not rain this year and you will see people come out in droves. What I like most about 18 Mai down here is the number of cars you see rolling through the streets all decked out with the Haitian flag, etc..

I'm sure the Boston event will be nice and cute, but you can't get me to miss what will be going on in NYC!!

I recently attended a Town hall meeting concerning this event. There will be a parade on EasternParkway and after the parade the festival will begin. The organizers of this festival also confirmed that all these bands will be in attendance. I will be there hope all of you make out as well.

I heard Hillary Clinton is supposed to show up at this year's Haitian festivities in Brooklyn. This I gotta see. She's probably gonna show up for 5 minutes, say "Sak Pase", and then get the hell outta Brooklyn!!

SENATOR CLINTON TO HELP COMMENMORATE THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HAITIAN FLAG

New York Junior Democratic Senator and Former United States First Lady Hillary Clinton joins the Haitian American community for the First Annual Haitian American Cultural Festival at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park on Sunday May 18th 2003.

The entire city is invited to a day of family, fun, culture and history to help commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Haitian Flag. The small island nation is the first black independent nation in the Western Hemisphere.

Other invited guests include:  Congressman Major Owens, Brooklyn Borough president, Marty Markowitz, State Comptroller Alan Hevesi, and many others.

The Mount Prospect Park will be jumping with plenty to do for the entire family. A diverse array of artists, entertainers as well as food vendors will make the day an event to remember.

There will be live performances by many popular Haitian bands including world-famous TABOU COMBO.   Other performers are T-VICE, CARIMI, PHANTOMS, NYAS, BEETHOVA OBAS. La Troupe Makandal will perform traditional Haitian folklore songs and dances.

Interactive games, arts and crafts booths will dazzle children. You can sample plenty of Haitian delicious cuisines.

“You will be able to partake in some of the most amazing delicacies of Haiti and revel in the rhythms of konpa and Racine music," Program Director Narah Timmer says.

This day presents an excellent opportunity for residents of the community at large to celebrate the historic bi-centennial anniversary of the Haitian flag, while enjoying a wide variety of family-oriented cultural activities.

The event is sponsored by 1199 SEIU and Western Union. For more information about the Haitian American Cultural Festival, or to volunteer contact us at: (718) 614-8669 or visit our website at www.hacf2003.com
