Flambert, I agree with you; Mainstream media is influencing what our perception of beauty is.

That's why if we can't combat the mainstream media (the source of our 'evil' so to speak), we have to arm our 'victims' with enough CONSCIENCE and AWARENESS of what's going on rather than blaming them of GUILT.

And if we don't know what makes them speak the words of a victim, we will make the unforgiveable error of judging the innocent rather than the accused.

It is imperative that L'amour speaks her mind by stating the motives that have led her to say that most Haitian folks are hideous.

"Imperative"? That's a pretty strong word since you do not have the power to make her do anything she doesn't want to. Don't take this the wong way, I am on your side, but also realize that these converations can be taken only so far. She said what she said. We got upset. She's not apologizing or saying why she said it. Let's get over it and move on.

I know for t a fact that I am a very attractive Haitian man and I know many other very attractive Haitian men and women. If she thinks Haitians are hideous, then let her think that and let her go on her merry way.

Ignorance now pervades every culture, plagues every society, and poisons every mind. This is my first time visiting this site, and I am absolutely disgusted with the ignorant comments coming from my own people, Haitian people, a people who "once were". What good is a site like this if it only serves as a forum for idiots to debate over whether Haitian men are ugly. Imbeciles!!!! 

NegNwe is right. It makes no sense to keep on discovering our wounds with no chance to be curative. (I agree, "imperative" was indeed too strong of a word).

Let's go to or create another forum with more subtance and character. There's much more to sare than just our ignorance.

By the way, new guest, this site is great. I started to post yesterday and I'm not regretting it. You should know that the site is open to all social and intellectual layers of our society. Needless to say that it makes perfect sense to feel their presence in the levels of debates and topics chosen. That only means THAT THE SITE IS ALIVE and is a true reflection of our Haitian society.

Let the enlightened among us look for idiocy and try to save a soul. That's why we're here. Imagine how stupid this site would be if everybody was intelligent and well versed about how they express their ideas!
