I am currently married to a Haitian man. I am American. We have a child together. His sister came to stay with us and she walks around naked in front of my husband. He saids that this is normal. She and he are in their 30's. Since I have never met his family, I have to trust him. He accused me of being sick. I know that are cultures are different. It does not seem right.Is this normal for Haitian people?

nope this is not normal for haitian people. obviously, your husband and sister in law are sick people.

I don't know if it's normal for every Haitian, for me it's not, i just wouldn't feel comfortable walking naked.  Sometimes it depends on the relationship she has with the brother i would say.  why don't you try to meet other members of his family and maybe you'll be able to tell how close everyone is?

manby that is not his really sister,they are girl friend and boy friend If that was me I will give her two choices the frist thing to correct her self the second thing she doesn't I will put her out on the same time and to tell you the trust married with someone and you don't know her familly that is strang for me

No, i dont think that it is normal. If you dont feel confortable about it you should talk to the two of them together and state your opinion. And it she or he disagrees with you, then something is not right.

Normal or not, cultural or not, this is your home and guests should follow the house rules or stay in a hotel.  You are uncomfortable with it, your husband's duty is to support you and talk to his sister.  Don't be bullied in your own home.

Trust your instincts. The sister is sleeping w/ the brother. People in my country would never do such a thing. Is she mental? You husband may be  using you  for a green card.  He is a liar. Haitian people would never do that in my country. I have sisters and they would never do that.  Why don't you write his family and ask them if this normal ?

Thank you for responding. When I met my husband, he lived with some friends from Haiti. His family stays in Haiti. Since he has been here, two of his siblings has moved here. They are very close.  His sister is very nice to me. I love my husband but when she is around. He acts so strange. They are half brother and half sister. They share the same mother and they grew up together. When she is at my house, he will not sit next to me or be affectionate. That is so strange.

SInce you don't know the family and you don't know the language these are speaking you don't know what is going on.  Human being could be very sneaky; you need to find out if they really related, already they don't have the same last name since she's his half sister through his mother.  do they get time alone in the house when you go to work?
